[SEC/FUN] Factions 2.0.0 - Guilds, War and user-controlled antigrief [BukkitDev]

    I've got a problem with the conf.json, I haven't the time to search the other pages for support but when i edit
    "powerPlayerMax": 10.0,
    and change it to
    "powerPlayerMax": 3.0,
    I stop the server to put in the changes. It tells me to either
    Open local file
    or Discard local file and download and edit file anew.
    I choose to download the file again, I scroll to the right
    and
    "powerPlayerMax": 10.0,
    It's back again
    I've tried to change
    "powerPlayerMin": -10.0
    to
    "powerPlayerMin": -3.0
    Same thing
    goes back to
    "powerPlayerMin": -10.0

    Tried to disable faction homes
    "homesEnabled": true,
    to
    "homesEnabled": false,
    and it changes back to
    "homesEnabled": true,

    I just completely cannot edit anything in conf.json without being changed back
    I've done it while the server is offline and online

    Is there a way to give a group unlimited power? or grant power?

    Also, the problem I was talking about before where people were able to ignore protected items is still happening, even with 860.

    Turn the server off completely. Download the conf. Open it edit it on your computer, run faction on a server on your computer and make sure it did not get a error and reset. If it works and did not reset upload it back to the server and overwrite the old one and start server.

    When I download the conf.json onto my computer it has the 10.0 for player max, I change it to 3.0. I then upload it back up to the server (Server is offline completely) it continues to say 3.0 for max when i view it, although it always says
    Open Local files

    Discard local files and download and edit files anew

    I choose to discard as i want to see what the actual server file says.
    Still 3.0
    Turn on the server
    and BAM
    10.0
    fml

    well i think you should make it so only admins can do it without power and use a wand so we can select our territory

    Is it possible to have an option for warzone where allys and faction memebers can attack each other only in warzone?

    if some faction is offline. Can some other faction declare war and just destroy their stuff?

    and whats up with taking land through war? how is that working?

    They can declare war, but they still can't just walk in and start breaking blocks. They could use a TNT cannon or creepers, though. But, you can now (well, after he fixes it) set it so if a faction is completely offline (no members online), people can't do damage to the land via tnt, creepers, etc.

    With the way it currently handles power regeneration, that can't be done without some rewriting of it. For efficiency, it currently only updates a player's power level whenever it is referenced/checked by something else, or when they log off, or when the server shuts down.

    I'll check into it.

    That's as expected. Explosions which happen right outside faction territory are not prevented regardless. There's no simple or efficient way to track individual blocks affected by an explosion, unlike tracking the center position of the explosion. A minor shortcoming. The best protection is to not build so close to the edge of your claimed territory.

    If you're sure the server was completely down when you saved your changes to the file (or if you used /f save and then /f lock on, edited the file, then used /f reload conf followed by /f lock off), then you (or your text editor of choice) messed the file format up somehow. If that's the case, Factions will give an error when it starts up. If you're still having this problem, post the error.

    Not currently possible or planned, sorry.


    I haven't been able to reproduce this. Assuming you haven't cleared the protected items in question from territoryProtectedMaterials or territoryProtectedMaterialsWhenOffline, I also see no potential bugs in the Factions code related to that. Do the players get a message from Factions indicating it should be prevented, or do they get no message at all?

    What version of Factions, what version of CraftBukkit, and can you provide a screenshot?

    Should have been fixed in RB 860, it was a bug in RB 818 which they (supposedly) fixed since then.

    Read the release notes for 1.3.0, that was just added.

    What needs fixing, exactly? EDIT: ah, right, the confusion over explosion prevention above. So, all of those Offline options should work the same as the online ones.

    They get no message, but this issue isn't constant. It's random, and happens to random people. It's not like the factions mod just stops protecting stuff for everyone, it's just for one person usually. This happens to admins and non admins a like. I can't think of any mods that would cause this issue either. Pretty much all of the mods I'm using, I've had since before this issue popped up. The only truly new plugin I'm using is BananaChunk, which just has to do with chunk updates.

    To be honest, I could have swore it started after I updated to the 1.2.1 version of Factions.

    People are claiming that it happens when they go in and out of the nether a lot.

    Also, just talked to a member this happened to. He said that he was able to go into peoples things, but when he tried to touch peoples cobble walls, he was told that "You cannot use <whatever the faction name>'s furnace", even though it was cobble?


    Oh, so, what does the protection actually do then? Does it protect the middle of claimed areas? I thought that it would prevent tnt splash damage from spilling over into claimed land.

    Oh alright I get it I guess. I just brought a creeper into an offline factions claimed land and had him blow up. It just gets rid of the explosion all together. So if the tnt flies into the claimed area via a tnt cannon, it's just deleted or negated, basically? I guess that's ok. I kinda wish it would protect the very edges too, but this will work. Thanks!

    It would be useful if we could enforce faction territory to be continuous. Linked to one another.

    Player are claiming chunk just to annoy other players and then forget about it in the wilderness or never do anything with the claimed land.

    Suggestion: Maybe have to build some kind of shrine for each region you want to claim and you could expand around it.

    I agree I had someone in my server claim all around a faction just to wall them in. While it was amusing on how they did it they ended up leaving the server and the wall stayed there until I got around to taking it all down.

    If anything I think you should be able to claim separate land 2-3 times before you are required to expand from that.

    So I am kinda noob and I am not sure if this is a Factions side or Permissions side issue, but when I have permissions on everything works if Factions is not installed, if I have Factions installed I can't create factions, (even though I gave myself permissions to do so. It says *An Internal Command has Occurred while attempting to perform this command* When I take Permissions off and leave Factions on I can create factions, but because of not having permissions that would give everyone the ability to build on my server.

    Anyway, I am not sure if I need to write to the permissions people about this or Factions, but Those 2 plugins are the basis for the problem, and Permissions seems to be working fine with all my other plugins.

    I used to have that problem, I recommend switching to essentals. I find it easy because I actually can do it manually ingame.
    Plus this mod wit essentials on our server works great

    I got this error myself. Check your config file. Make sure "factionChatFormat" is set to "§a%s§f %s"

    I found the error was that there's a typo in the default setting for factionChatFormat, I believe.

    @Brettflan I'm getting some errors while trying to build in war zones. I set "warZoneDenyUseage" to false, but still my players can't use buckets or flint in war zones.

    They don't have the manageWarZone permission, but that's because I don't want them to be able to create war zones. Do you have any suggestions on allowing them all build access to war zones?

    I know you can do it so that you can't /f home when an enemy is within X blocks close to you, but can you do it so that you can't /f home when anybody is X blocks close to you except for allies?

    Hey guys. Is this permissions 3.* or 2.7.4? Because I'm at 2.7.4 and I'm an admin with * permissions, yet I can't even do /f create.
