    Do you have any plugins that change the chat? Are those plugins adding the A?

    An "Å" usually appears before a special unicode character if you save your project in a file encoding that doesn't support it. What are you currently encoding your source files as? (If it's something else than UTF-8, try switching to it).

    Essentials is now three years old and only supports up to 1.8. Do not use it. Same for all the other essentials plugins.

    This may be an issue with essentials chat.
