    Minecraft version: Minecraft 1.9.4

    Suggested name:
    Journalist (Not really sure)

What I want: I want a plugin where players can make journals and see other players journals

Ideas for commands: /journal help - Shows all commands to the plugin
/journal edit - Shows your journal as a Book and Quill
/journal edit <player name> - Opens your journal as a Book and Quill
/journal view - Opens your journal as a Book (Can't edit)
    /journal view <player name> - Opens said journal as a Book (Can't Edit)
/journal public - Makes other players able to see your journal
/journal private - Removes journal from /journal list and cannot be seen by other players
/journal list - Lists all Journals that are public

Ideas for permissions: journal.edit.others - Allows player to edit said players journal

    In the config: Example:
    <bad word>: (replace word here)

When I'd like it by: Whenever is possible!

I'm willing to take this request on! Just need to clear one thing up, though - do you mind if I publish this plugin as a project on BukkitDev once I'm finished with it? It seems like a neat idea with no other similar plugins. I'd be sure to credit this thread as an origin for the plugin.

@htmlman1 Thanks, and yes that is okay! Glad you could make this plugin!

Okay, finished the first build of the plugin, which can be found here:

    http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/journals/

Note: There was actually an issue with the version of CraftBukkit you requested (1.9.4) that I couldn't do anything about—long story short, my plugin wasn't able to communicate with books in players' hands and test when they were updated, which killed a huge part of the plugin's functionality. This meant that I was forced to develop for CraftBukkit 1.10.2, where the bug appeared to have been fixed. Sorry about any inconvenience that this caused.

@htmlman1 Oh! Thats okay, I actually updated my server to 1.10, and was about to ask you if it would be possible if you could update it!

I downloaded the plugin, restatred my server. When I did /plugins it doesn't show up, also I tried to look in the console for any errors, but couldn't even find the plugin being mentioned at all. :p I am on 1.10 and I did put it in the plugin folder ( I double checked)

It doesn't even show up as red? What is the file extension? If it is a jar, it WILL be mentioned, no matter what happens. Could you post the log anyways, if the questions above are "no" and ".jar"?

That's very odd - I can't seem to recreate the problem; it works fine on my test server. Could you post the log, as I Al Istannen mentioned?
Also, thanks for the question, but I'd appreciate if you'd let me debug my own plugin ;) Thanks.

I normally like it if a problem is sorted out, especially if it isn't my fault as the developer. Was not intended to offend you in any way or question your authority or whatever xD

But yes, I will try to respect your opinion on this matter. If I don't forget it in another thread in the future, but I plan not to.

    Have a nice day :)

Yeah, please don't take that post as an angry yell or anything haha. Just happened to me once before, so I'm a little sensitive now.

Hmm, seems like my plugin isn't the only thing with issues starting on your server installation; several seem to be going through the same problem. In this case the most likely issue is that your server is built on an earlier version of Java than -
    Dangit, bwfcwalshy ninja'd me.

Update your server's Java installation to 8 and my plugin (as well as several others giving errors in your log) should work fine.
