    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    - "Use" flag now covers trap doors.
    - Lease renewal can now be pulled from the Residence's bank.

    • Added "piston" flag.
    v2.3.4
    • Fixes for CB1000

    • If the save file errors, it will now be preserved rather then overwritten, it will be renamed res-ERRORED.yml, the plugin will now disable itself upon error as well unless the StopOnSaveFault option in the config is set to false.

    • Fixed residences not being properly removed from lease / rent system, upon deletion.
    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • Added "/res area replace" command, allows you to resize / move a physical area. If the new area is bigger, it will only charge you for the difference in size.
    • Added 'waterflow' and 'lavaflow' flags which override the flow flag if set.
    • Fixed a bug causing money to still be charged when failing to add a area to a residence.
    v2.1.1
    • Fix case sensitivity bug in rent system.
    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.
    • Added the 'place' and 'destroy' flags, which if used overrule the 'build' flag. These allow you to give only block placement permissions in a certain area, or only block destroy permissions.
    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

Thanks for your kindly reply, Daniel.
However, I searched within the config.yml and did not think there is an "explosions flag".
I'm pretty sure I'm using the latest, otherwise I may download it again.

    @bekvon
Heya!! Just did a test on Rent System. I made my brothers account Default in permissions and used the '
    /res market rentable rent1 100 1' command.

    1. Does that mean they rent it 100 per day? Or 100 coins and they keep the rent for 1 day then its removed? I'm guessing the first.
    2. Does it automatically take the money out each day until they cancel their rent?

When he rented the property, I used /res info and it said 'Name: Rent1 Rented by NAME.' however he couldnt use doors, or containers or beds. Can you add a part in the config to say what flags are applied to the rent payer, or is this already on your to-do list?

Also, is it possible for you you to add an option that lets you rent per real life day or per Mincraft day. Because I'd like to charge 100 coins PER Minecraft day.

About the WIKI, when you release your next stable build I'm going to update it fully. I feel this will be easier incase you change anything and i can work on getting it complete and then further add stuff as it comes.
    Hope thats ok,
    -DanJames

Just add the flag explosions:true into your config under Global. :) It's there, it's just not by default.
Looking back on my reply to you, it doesn't look so kindly :p sorry if it seemed that mean :) just wanted to make myself clear.

I tried that, but what happened was Bukkit did not recognize the whole Residence directory, as if it had never installed.
Deleting that line, save config.yml as how it used to look like, run Bukkit and Residence disappeared entirely(but explosions work, and as you might guess, as if Residence wasn't installed).
got really confused right now... and as usual, any advices will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Your missing one line in your config file, right before the part where you have this:

    Coolguys:
    build:true

    It should be this:

    GroupDefault:
    Coolguys:
    build:true

    Try that :)

Hmm, your config looks ok. Couple questions. First, do you have WorldGuard, as it has a 'use' flag of its own and I think it spits out a very similar message (if not identical). The reason I ask that is that the message you are getting is not quite worded the same way the newest Residence messages are (I had tweaked the messages a bit when I added the container flag). Also, are you getting this message outside of Residences? or inside ones where you are supposed to be able to build?

Hmm, I'll look into that as it seems you have it set up right... The monsters flag currently does include animals, but I'll probably end up breaking it up into a 'monsters' and 'animals' flags.

This could be a potential problem, but I would solve it by instead going in as a admin and creating a huge residence around your entire spawn point, and then just give everyone +move, +use, etc.... That will prevent them from creating a residence there since they cant overlap :) It will also allow you to specifically control how you want your spawn point to behave (you could do a -build flag there for instance).

Nope, theres no longer an explosions flag, it got divided up into two different flags. They are the 'tnt' and 'creeper' flags. The 'tnt' flag causes exploding TNT to not break any blocks or do any damage. The 'creeper' flag makes it so creepers cant blow up at all (they just follow you around). Hope that clears it up :) I may eventually add back the 'explosions' flag and make it cover both TNT and creepers, but for now its simply been replaced.

Actually they are getting this message both inside and outside residences, whenever they right-click. They get the message but they are still able to place blocks/ use items where they are supposed to.
And yes I use World Guard but my blacklist only includes lava and tnt

    Great, thanks for the clarification.

The spawn point was only one of my concerns - personally, I think it only makes sense to allow people to create residences where they can physically access each block (and making them hit each corner is pretty close to guaranteeing that). Also, hitting each corner means that the time it takes to create a residence increases with size, rather than having a constant amount of effort to set up a 8x8x8 residence, or a 128x128x128 residence, especially since, if it's this easy to create residences, you can always box in the "spawn" residence, box in somebody else's residence, or any of a host of other things.

Aside from that, I'm wondering if multiworlds work with Residence - if you click on a block, switch worlds, and right-click on another block, where will that world be created, and how large? I would think that the memory of your first point should be erased when you switch worlds.

Uhh i have to ask how do we add flags to a subzone?

  13. Offline

    Daniel Few

    Two ways:
    1. Stand in the subzone and use '/res set [flag] [true/flase]'
    2. Use /res set MainRes.Subzone [flag] [true/false]' - I think thats the right order :/

Is there anyway to disable the ability to pick up and place lava and water in the 'Global' settings

  17. Offline

    Daniel Few

I believe you can set flow to false in the global setting. This will stop the ability to make water travel when placed, (it will still be placed but it wont flow).

You could also blacklist the following items:
    • Water Bucket
    • Lava Bucket
    • Bucket
    • Lava Block
    • Flowing Lava Block
    • Water Block
    • Flowing Water Block
That would then stop anyone placing these items. You can find item blacklisting at the bottom of the config for residence.

Hmm, I'll poke around a bit, but so far I cannot find any bugs or even reproduce the bug. I'll let you know if I do find anything.

I guess I could add a option to disable the selection commands. As for your multiworld question, if they hit 2 points in the same world, it uses the world from the first point and simply takes the coords from the second point to to the first world. So no, its not possible to have a inter-world residence :) But yea, it probably would be better to just clear the points when changing worlds just to prevent confusions. Bukkit needs to add a onPlayerWorldChange() event, as that would make it easy.

Yup, this was already fixed in the development version which I will be releasing either today or tomorrow as the next recommended build :) Theres one or two minor tweaks I still want to make with it, but it should be fully working if you want to go ahead and get it.

    Ok, I'll take a look :)

Yea, deny the 'bucket' flag (its in the latest development version, recommended release doesn't have the bucket flag, but I will be releasing v2.1 either today or tomorrow).

That would be great; just a permissions node or something simple like that would be fine.

It just occurred to me as a potential bug, especially with nether plugins.

I still seem to get all kinds of Lease messages, despite having leases disabled (messages about when leases expire when creating a residence mostly).

    Hey There,
I noticed that some players will use /tp [residence] to zip away from dangerous mob incidents...
Is there a way to delay the teleport by some X number of seconds? If not would you please add it?
Right now I'm using HomeX, but would rather have one less plugin installed.

    Thanks for a cool plugin!

I just added it to the config, I guess I should have made it a permission node but oh well. Just add:

    SelectCommandAccess: false

to the groups you dont want to be able to use it.

Hmm, that's odd, I'll look and see...
Oh, great idea :) I'll setup a configurable cooldown timer.

    Works perfectly, thanks a lot!

Could there be separate flags for whether or not people can build/destroy vehicles in a residence? It seems distinct from "build", as well as from "use".

i've added the explosions: true flag to global, but it's still not allowing tnt to work.

  24. Offline

    Daniel Few

Sorry if it was me who told you that, the flag is actually:

tnt: true - makes tnt explode
tnt: false - stops it exploding
creeper: true - lets creepers explode
creeper: false - stops creepers exploding

Wow, am I baffled! I am trying to set res up 1 - 20 so that my peons may purchase them for a certain price. I can see how to set that up but when they go to buy them it says economy system not available or Error: buying/selling disabled. Why is this?

Look in the config under the Main settings at the top for these:

    # Enable / Disable Residence's Economy System.
EnableEconomy: false - change this to true
    # The economy system to use (iConomy or MineConomy).
EconomySystem: iConomy - make sure this says IConomy

Is it possible to restrict only lava flow but still allow water flow?

Don't think so. However, you could blacklist Lava Block, Flowing Lava Block and Lava Bucket. This way they could still access water but couldnt place lava.

Just wondering why in my residence after selecting the area, then /res select sky , /res select vert , /res create Test , noone can enter my residence? What part of the config file is this? I want people to be able to go inside my residence, just not be able to destroy anything within it. I've looked but cant find anything.

When you say 'Noone can enter my residence?' Do you mean, they can not walk inside it, or they can not use the door?

I can get in it myself, but if someone else tries to walk into my residence (It doesnt have a door), they get forced out, and if i teleport them to me when I am inside the residence, they either get stuck on the spot that they are on, and cannot move, or even turn, or they get pushed outside the residence. Why is this?
