    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.
    • RealShop Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.

You need to create the groups first under the Groups section, see the wiki for more help. Also make sure that these groups exist in your Permissions plugin :)

Well, considering things are going well right now, I guess I could do it at the same time that I work on the help system.
You have AdminOnlyCommands set to true under your global section, turn it off if you want normal users to be able to use commands.
Ok, I'll see if I can do that :)
As for bukets, if you get the latest dev build they should be covered under the build flag now. I also put in a 'bucket' flag that overrides the build flag. :)

    @bekvon

Thank you for the constant and renewed development of this!

Quick question: Any progress on a per-world 'residence-creation-allowed' flag (if not the return of the node)

I could imagine an optional section within the group flags:

    Code:
    world:
         build: false
         pvp: true
         can-create: false
         can-buy: true
They would overwrite the default option in the groups section, but only if used.

    Possible? Thanks :D

I would get that if there was a cap on the amount they could own

Do you mean how many residences' they can buy? Or how many they can create themselves?

    Three things:
    • Is there some way to prevent people from using coordinates to set their residences, and only allow them to do it with the residence-selection tool?
    • If the residence-selection tool and info tool are the same, will it cause any weird behavior?
    • If one person creates a residence, can another person create a residence which overlaps it? (Assuming they don't have permission to create subzones within the first residence.)

    Nazerb

Well one for each i suppose. Like they can make 1 but buy 3. And admins will have imunity.

There is an option to say how many residences a player can make, see the config. I'm not sure that effects buying.

    No.

Is there a possibility to have to many residences created on a server? Will to many cause lag?
Or should this nit be a worry of mine.

Also, is possible for you to add another type of "select" command that allows us to determine the size of the residence in all directions? For example: /res select 1 20 20 20 30 30 (1down 20up 20left 20right 30forward 30backward)
This would give us more finite control over the selection step.

    Thanks!

Hello everyone, when I restart my server after creating residences, an error message appears in the console : http://pastebin.com/i7qKuE1E

All my residences are gone :(

And every time I restart my server, the residences are deleted.

    Thank you for your help.

After working fine last night I tried to lay some tnt in an area not owned by anyone and it won't let the tnt do any damage.

I've gone through the config file but can't find what's causing it :( I'm using version 2.0

    Anyone mind taking a look?

Oh yea, sorry I had forgotten about the residence.create node  I just added it back real quick, try it to make sure it works :) I also added a residence.buy and residence.sell, the pvp flag you can control through the config even on a per world basis.

I found the issue, should be fixed in latest development release :) Thanks for the report.

Residence is loading before your MultiWorld plugin is loading, which is causing it to not find the world that all your residences are in. Try changing your MultiWorldPlugin setting the Residence config to the exact name of whatever MultiWorld plugin your using. :)

It was a bug, I got it fixed in latest dev build :)

Yes, this groups exist in Permissions's config and in Groups section.
    Code:
           Flags:
              # Specifys the flags that players of this group are allowed to change.
              Permission:

How do you create Blacklists? It seems I can in-game with /res lists add <listname>, but how do you actually blacklist items on the list? I've also tried in the config file and it ended up not creating a list for my world.

Great plugin indeed, thanks for your hard work bekvon!

However, there's a buggy issue happening on my server... I don't know if others encounter this or not, but creepers never blow up. They'll chase you, hiss and their body will go "flickering"... but they never blow up, or do any damage to players. I have the latest build of CraftBukkit and Residence (both downloaded yesterday), with merely Choptree and Lockette plugins, and these are all I've installed so far.

I've checked config.yml, every single flag that is about creeper is set true. This happens everywhere, even if when we are digging in a deep distant cave, which I'm pretty sure we are not in a residence area that disables explosions.

Same for TNT as well. Global flag is true, but they'll explode and the blocks are "recovered" after 3 secs. Will be greatly appreciated if anyone can help me out. Config files will be provided if needed. Thanks!

Check to see if your explosions flag is set to true. If it's false, you will get NO explosions including creepers and TNT.

So if you WANT creepers and TNT to explode, set this to TRUE

With an incomplete website and a post which links only to the website, I hope you can excuse my confusion:

I'm trying to disable monsters on the world, but still have the potential to spawn monsters with another plugin - it seemed to me, based on the website, that I could do this (by setting the global monster flag to false, near the bottom here):

    Code:
#These are Global Settings for Residence.
    Global:
        # Wooden Axe is the default selection tool for Residence.
        # You can change it to another item ID listed here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Data_values
        SelectionToolId: 287
        # This determines which tool you can use to see info on residences, default is String.
        # Simply equip this tool and hit a location inside the residence and it will display the info for it.
        InfoToolId: 287
       # The interval, in milliseconds, between movement checks.
       # Reducing this will increase the load on the server.
       # Increasing this will allow players to move further in movement restricted zones before they are teleported out.
        MoveCheckInterval: 1000
        # The interval, in minutes, between residence saves.
        SaveInterval: 10
        # The default group to use if Permissions fails to attach or your not using Permissions.
        DefaultGroup: default
        # Enable / Disable the Lease System.

Monsters still spawn, however. Also, does the monsters flag include animals? If not, could there be a flag for animal spawning as well?

Lastly, could there be a way to prevent players from creating residences using coordinates? As far as I can tell, it seems that a player could create a giant residence around the spawn point, no? Aside from that, it's just not a feature I want to enable, though I do want the rest of the plugin's functionality.

    NEW FEATURE PLEASE

-If a player is attacked in a PvP area and they leave the area they can still be attacked for 3 seconds and the time resets everytime they are attacked before the 3 seconds runs out

i want this feature because people often run out of arenas making the winning player get annoyed =)

Is it possible for the owner of a zone (test) to create a subzone (test.monkey), and lease out test.monkey to other players, while keeping ownership of test? For example, I have an apartment building with many floors. If i create a create a zone around the entire building, and a subzone around each floor, can I have other players pay me rent for living there? (if not, this would be a great feature to add)

Also, can the the lease amounts be defined by the owner of the zone? or if leasing is turned on, are they all a fixed price? Ideally I'd want leasing for zones off, and for sub-zones configurable by the owner of that zone.

Ok 1, no need to be rude becuase bekvon is busy making residence better for you and other bukkit users.
The monster flag should disable monsters, however without knowing what version of residence your using, there is no way to say why it isn't working.
So post that and maybe I can help.

Also, what do you mean 'a post which links only to the website'.

I was making no attempt to be rude, but simply validating my asking of a n00b question. Since, if the documentation on the website were finished, that would have certainly been a very n00bish post for me to make.

Latest recommended build of Residence (v2.0)

The original post in this thread only gives documentation for Residence by linking to the website, so my question also didn't have documentation in the post either.
