So recently I found out that you can't take a conversation about a plugin onto Skype or PM. To me this rule seems kind of weird, justjust because the goal of every server put there is to be the most unique. If all the custom plugins made through Skype and PMing suddenly become public, well then there won't really be custom plugins anymore :/. What's your opinion?

This is a rule that the previous staff enacted. I cannot say that I disagree with it, it is to protect the users. This rule prevents people from being scammed on the forums due to prepaying for a plugin and then the person running off with the money. There have been reports of this even with this rule in place so you can't tell me its not needed.

Well. I think if the person that is developing the plugin is okay with it not being public, then that's fine. I agree that paying for the development of a plugin is quite shady (As you can get scammed pretty easy.) Now for the no skype or PM thing, I find quite silly. As long as the plugin is going to be public I don't see the problem with it. It's faster than sending messages in the thread and waiting for the other person to see that you replied back.

  5. @Solaris_88 Not taking it to private messages reduces the risk of people getting scammed. It also allows others who may be following the thread to have progress updates too, and it's not unheard of for other developers to pitch in with ideas/solutions... this wouldn't likely happen if it was all done in private, and that's not what Bukkit is for. We're an open community - there are other communities for those that do not want the openness Bukkit has to offer :)

And that is fine. But I think it should be up to the person who posted the thread, and the developer. And Mods do not say that when they get mad for people telling each other to add them on skype, or to PM them.

  8. So far as I know mods don't get mad at people saying that, they simply enforce the rule that is there. :)

And as I've said, it shouldn't be. It's detrimental to public plugins being developed from requests, and if it's for a private plugin Bukkit is not the place to get it.
