    Plugin category: RPG/Mechanics

    Suggested name: Level Zones
I would like to request a plugin where you can select a certain region and set the level of mobs in that region etc, and the level of the mobs affects how much health they have and there damage, rare drops and how much exp they give off... I know there is a plugin called Leveledmobs, but that is quite buggy and doesn't allow you to make zones for certain leveled mobs. I find this would be useful in servers that are RPG's with quests and want the quest to be a certain level needed.. For like heroes where you get more powerful every level you grow.. It would also be a nice feature where you see the mobs health and level in the suggested "Level Zones" plugin.

I would definitely use this plugin if created and I find many others would.

    Thanks for listening...

    Ideas for commands:

Copied from my suggestion to leveledmobs....

    More easier explanation of commands:
    /lz create [areaname] lvl:[levelrange]
so like this /lz create Cavern lvl:1-6
    or /lz create Cavern lvl:1
and if you would like to flag it:
    /lz edit [areaname]
    so
    /lz edit Cavern
You have entered the edit mode for the area "Cavern"!
    Type
"1" to edit the allowed mobs in this zone
"2" to edit the mobs not allowed spawning in this zone
"3" to edit the area name
"4" to edit the level range of this zone"
"5" to exit without saving the flag
    or
"6" to exit and save the flags
    /lz remove [areaname]
/lz expand 40 up/down/left/right (I realize this could be done with world edit)

    Ideas for permissions:
    LevelZone.create (Basically the "/lz create [areaname] lvl:[levelrage]
    LevelZone.expand
levelZone.lvl (Basically choosing the level range of mobs that spawn here)
    levelZone.pos
    LevelZone.edit
    LevelZone.remove
    LevelZone.*

When I'd like it by: As Soon As Possible.

If you're going to vote on the poll, please give your reasons to why you don't want the plugin to be created and perhaps why you would like it. A vote doesn't really count in my eyes if there is no reason to back it up. Thanks :)

Early update but it's quite of an informal one:
I am willing to do any artwork for the plugin if you want me to:).

    Hello :D

I, too, support this idea... as it allows you to organize the world in a way that'll help reward exploration. In my opinion, this is very importaent for the fallowing reasons:

    1) Reward - if you were working very hard for something... would you want to just get a nice pat on the back with a reassuring "Good Job, mate." to fallow it? no. You'd want something that'll give you an advanage over others or over the situation, in general.

    2) Configurability - Now that we've established why "reward" is important... let's move onto the next step.

now.. if i've interpreted this correctly...

"I would like to request a plugin where you can select a certain region and set the level of mobs in that region etc, and the level of the mobs affects how much health they have and there damage, rare drops and how much exp they give off... I know there is a plugin called Leveledmobs, but that is quite buggy and doesn't allow you to make zones for certain leveled mobs."

^ this basicly means that mobs of a specifed level influences: where they spawn, thier item drops, and thier health within a certain area.

Meaning that we can control what happens in every area down to the area it's self.

    For example:

Area A and A-1: This is an area where Level 8 Zombies that drop wooden swords, lether armors, and other materials and an area where level 24 zombies that drop iron swords, iron armors, and other materials , will spawn.
Area Band B-1: This is an area where level 1 sheep will spawn and drop wool and an area where level 8 sheep that will drop wool health potions, will spawn.
Area C: This is an area were a Level 40 boss will appear and it will drop a rare item.

This type of configurability can enable you to greatly control the enviroment inwhich the player lives... meaning that you can influce how the enviroment rewards the player, thus building upon the player's overall experience.

so, why is this importent, you ask?

The player would be more motivated to play the game if the the game is good... and a game that is good is a game that rewards the player (makes them feel good) and they'd more motived to invite thier friends, with which.. they can share the experience. (side note: more people means more donations ;) (i know... some of you fellow server owners are thinking about it... don't try to deny it. <.<->.> loooooool jk. ))

    anyways...

In conclusion of this very massive thought: i'd like to express my concern: i understand that developing a plugin of this caliber, would... but NO MEANS be a... simple feat. However, if there is someone out there who is brave enough to take on such a challenge... i will... straight up...right here, thank you greatly for your efforts and... perhaps when it's done.. i'll even give you a lil somthin' somthin' for working so hard on it.

anyways... that's about it... soooo... mabey i'll see ya guys in da future.

I like the idea of this also. Levelled Mobs is pretty restrictive, And the ability to set certain areas with different levels would be good. It would be an interesting Survival element to have an area where you fight high-levelled mobs in order to get enchanted diamond gear, or perhaps something that's not obtainable by any other means.

Would certainly use this. TL;DR = Support :)

I completely agree with this, I found that Leveled Mobs is extremely restrictive in the way I see things. But however I can't say that he did a bad job with the plugin, I think that we can all agree on... What a plugin like this that I am suggesting would bring a lot more to RPG's/Survival as Kai here said. It would also be a lot less restrictive compared to Leveled Mobs. I hope someone can bring this plugin to us :)

    TwerkinCraft

There is a plugin already made that does that, RPGSystem, i think its by hellfirepvp on bukkit

thats a good way to do things, but on my server, i just made the plugin read a sign that has [RPGMob] as the first line and spawn a mob anywhere in a 5 block radius that has air, so the sign can stay hidden.

    I can try this
    EDIT:
I was planning on making a gui for the editing a region thing. Tell me if you would like me to remove this.

    Also, what is this permission:
levelZone.lvl (Basically choosing the level range of mobs that spawn here)?

Also, what is the difference between "1" and "2"?
"1" to edit the allowed mobs in this zone
"2" to edit the mobs not allowed spawning in this zone

I still have some things left, but I'm going to sleep now. If you want to try it, here's what I have so far: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/level-zones

    I added/changed some commands a little:

/LZ Wand - this is done
/LZ Create [Area_Name] [MinLevel] [MaxLevel] - this is done
/LZ Edit [Area_Name] - this is mostly done
/LZ Remove [Area_Name] - I think this is done, but I haven't tested it. There might be bugs.
/LZ Expand [North/South/East/West/Up/Down] [Amount] - This still has bugs I'm working out
/LZ Direction - This is done (this tells you the direction you are facing, I thought it would help for the expand command)
/LZ list - This is done (This lists all of the zones)
/LZ pos1 - I think this is done, but I haven't tested it. There might be bugs.
/LZ pos2 - I think this is done, but I haven't tested it. There might be bugs.
I'll try to finish it tomorrow

    It's done: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/level-zones
To edit the config (and the item drops) type /lz config

To edit the drops, type /lz config, then click on the items "button". Click on the level that you want to give drops to and drag and drop the items you want into the inventory slots. Click save.

Please tell me if you have any requests, or find any bugs. When you put this on your server, if you wouldn't mind, could you tell me what your ip is. I think this was a good plugin idea, and I would like to see how it is used.

I am so, so sorry about the late reply.. My laptop broke and is still broken, using my brothers right now. However from what it looks like this is extremely promising, thank you so much for taking the time to create this plugin and I hope I can check it out soon. Thanks again! ;D

Yeah, when I get my server I'll definitely give you the IP. :) (I did used to co-own a server where I did most of the plugins, but he turned it into a Pixelmon server and closed it down)
