A new CraftBukkit Beta Build (1.7.9-R0.2) that provides Minecraft 1.7.9 compatibility is now available. Please note: the stability of this build is relatively unknown due to the impact Minecraft 1.7 had on the core code. If you're running a previous 1.7.9 Beta, upgrading is highly recommended.

Will plugins break with this build?
Minecraft 1.7 is one of the most involved and impactful updates to date, bringing about many changes to the core of Minecraft. As a result, there is a chance that plugins might break with this build. Even if that isn't the case, we have not completed work on API changes for 1.7 yet so future builds might still break plugins.

    What is a Beta build?
A Beta Build is in between a developer build and a Recommended Build. These builds simply work and are promoted much more frequently than a Recommended Build. While we will do some testing before promoting a beta build, we will not be running it through our extensive test process. As such, there are no guarantees that they will not contain minor bugs. If we do find out they are broken, we will mark it as such on DLB and promote a new one. A beta build may contain incomplete API and new features but they should not interfere with running the build in any way.

This particular Beta build, like every first few Beta builds for a Minecraft update, is primarily made available to help facilitate more testing coverage to bring us closer to a Recommended Build sooner. Please consider running this Beta build to give us a hand with discovering issues we need to address in order to reach a Recommended Build.

    Notable changes include:
Support for Minecraft's new UUID system
The biggest and most notable change included in CraftBukkit 1.7.9-R0.1+ is finalised support for Minecraft's new UUID system. We highly recommend that ALL Server Admins read my previous article on The Switch to UUIDs and follow the advice outlined there to ensure you're ready for the switch to the new UUID system and the upcoming support for name changes.

For more detailed information on what is contained in this update, please see the changelog here.

No 1.7.9 dev builds for the past two weeks. Could a Recommended Build be around the corner?

1.7.10 is about to come out. Bukkit should release a Recommended Build of 1.7.9 before it's too late!

1.7.10 only has changes for Minecraft Realms, it won't really affect Bukkit at all.

  7. No need Only REALMS released!

    Yeah only Realms

I agree. They should release a recommended build of at least 1.7.5. They still have the recommended build as 1.6.4 R2.0

My understanding of their configuration management process is that any Beta or Recommended builds have to be at least the same version as the latest Development build. e.g., 1.7.9 is the latest Development Build, so they can't make an "older" Recommended Build, such as 1.7.5.

TheExtremes73 have you even TRIED to log into a 1.7.9 server? It works absolutely fine.

Darn :-( I just wish they would update the recommended version. Even when bukkit 1.7.10 (or whatever) will be out and they still may not have updated the recommended version.

EDIT: I just looked, the recommended build isn't even on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th page of https://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/, believe it or not, it is on the very bottom of the 5th page.

Will CraftBukkit 1.7.10 (or whatever is next) make us edit eula.txt to agree to the EULA, or will Bukkit remove the test for the edited file?

Considering part of Mojang works on CraftBukkit and the Bukkit API, I would assume we still have to accept it. :)

I think your find its the other way round, Mojang recruited part of the Bukkit Team to go and work for them on minecraft, eg Dinnerdone and Grum. I presume they have some form of understand but Bukkit is still independent well that's the official line and no reason to think otherwise.

It was said back when 1.7 came out that due to how extensive the 1.7 update was there may never be a recommended build again. If these major changes like the long list that is planned for 1.8 keep happening then I can almost guarantee that Bukkit will not have a recommended build for several years to come. So just keep downloading the Beta builds because unless Minecraft stops updates for 6 months or more Bukkit won't be able to catch up ever.

Wth, who wouldn't like this Bukkit build? The team always does their best at it. Thanks for being the best! ;D

I'd really like to try the new dev build out, but trying to download either that or even the recommended build I get the message that the page have been taken down for legal reasons. Is there another way to get craftbukkit atm?
