Hello. Guess who's returned (hint, he's a lot more jaded)

One of the many, many things I hate about BukkitDev is the fact that there is no sort by popularity. For instance, I don't care that a plugin was updated 3 hours ago that facilitates a small time action that I don't care about. I DO care about what's popular in a current category, what people are downloading and using. With the forums, that was easy. You could sort by view count, or by number of pages. BukkitDev doesn't have that.

My question is, is such a feature on the road map, and if so, how far off is it from implementation. It would make BukkitDev suck a whole lot less, and be something that might encourage me to get back into plugin development.

I think one reason why BukkitDev doesn't include this feature is to get other relevant plugins a chance at survival.

Why does BukkitDev exist then, if this is the site that seems to be more fully featured? It looks like BukkitDev just feeds the content into the curse site... *sigh*

That's not *really* a valid reason as it wouldn't be the only option for sorting, just one of the options. But I digress.

    Thanks for the information.

BukkitDev is the developer portal. It houses everything a developer needs to run the project.
Curse site is the consumer portal. This is where you get popularity searches and the like which is really only relevant to consumers of the plugin.

I wouldn't say that. I wouldn't even call Curse a consumer portal since pages other than the main can't be seen unless the developer links it in the page and in doing that it dumps you to BukkitDev anyway. Even before I started developing plugins, I used BukkitDev rather than Curse. I think BukkitDev is more fully featured.

Yes, projects will sync with Curse, if the creator of the project selects that he wants to sync it with Curse.
Also, alpha projects don't sync with Curse.
This means there are more plugins on BukkitDev than plugins on Curse.
