    cb 531, frf 1.5.1.

ok /cruise brings up errors and /thrust is only changing the height of the flying not the distance.

both '/flyridgefly', and '/flyridgefly save' brings up usage help and does not actually save it

When I change through the yml file nothing seems to reduce the forward jump by anything, and it's always jumping about 8-10 blocks. Reducing thrust changes the vertical distance if im looking down, but if I'm looking up it seems to still go about 10 blocks up. Basically by looking in a different direction you can still get it to go about 10 blocks forward or vertical regardless of the settings.

Is there anyway to use another item to fly, because I would like to use an item that only Admins can get

I still don't get why this addon works by TELEPORTING the player, instead of modifying the player velocity and thus giving a much smoother experience

I still don't get why people don't understand that this was made ~5 months ago at the beginnings of hMod.

    EDIT:

    Here is my config File
    Code:

as clearly stated in the documentation, admns.txt is to be placed in the "plugins" folder.

Ok I guess I already did that, but I tought that only the person in that files would be able to fly...
I Need a pluging that let me Fly...and only me. this is for Administration use only and noone in my server exceptme should be able to fly.
How Do I do that ?

You are the only developer that complains about how much he is getting paid. This forum is for feedback, debugging and suggestions on addons released to the public. I think we can live without the wah wah im not getting paid enough.

From what I've noticed this is mainly for people who are looking to practice programming while helping out the bukkit community, or people who simply do it for fun. If you are looking to make a living programming addons for minecraft you are going to be sorely disappointed.

I donate to those plugins that have enhanced my server. There is no way I could even fathom supporting someone with this attitude. Please grow up and stop leaving the snide 1 liners about every person who doesn't hand you money for your poorly debugged addons.

I think you're mistaken, Daveyo. The illustration is not to whine about how much I am getting paid (as I am not, at all -- none of our team members are, nor are most bukkit plugin developers), but to illustrate that: In addition to programming the plugins, we run a free server for our members and for guests to play on, and frankly, our focus is keeping the plugins workable for our server than ensuring things like "thrust" function perfectly when the plugins' flying function already works perfectly well. If the plugin works for other people's servers, hey, that's great, but restoring FRF to it's full hmod functionality is decidedly low-priority for us. We'll get to it if and when we get to it and meantime it's "as is". Nagging us about it rather than just swinging your arm and thanking your lucky stars that someone made not only an amazing API like bukkit to work with, but someone else created some sort of serviceable flying plugin for a goony game like Minecraft that you're able to download for free and mess around with, all for completely free, seems positively trifling to me, especially given that all of this software is not in any sort of final release state and we have had to take everything from soup to nuts multiple times with some of the plugins. It's non-functionality has been noted.

If you find me to be snippy, hey, I apologize, but I also suggest you get some thicker skin. Just because we're doing this "to practice programming while helping out the bukkit community" doesn't also mean that we need to drop our respective spouses or even our grilled cheese sandwiches just because someone wants to do something ridiculous like move fifty squares per flap, or be the only one on their server who gets to use the feather (really? you selfish jerk!), especially given that most of people's problems tend to arise from improper installation of the plugins, and are reported in what can only be described as "Wow that is not really a sentence at all". We simply do not have the time to troubleshoot every Tom-Dick-and-Harry's issues based on the often sketchy information provided, as we are busy running our own server and/or working on newer, far more exciting new plugins than what is essentially franken-patched up version of the very first one we developed nearly a year ago, or, you know, leading a life of some kind, and I sincerely believe that how anyone spends their free time is up to them and only them.

This software is released as a free gift and the entitled "hey what you should really do is program this so it's exactly how i would do it / wish it worked, but never really will" as the above feedback from pixartist is toned, and I stand by my response. Comments like these start to wear on your last nerve after a while, and the only sane response becomes "Uh, okay dood, make me. Or better yet: make that plugin yourself. I'd even download it and check it out myself if it existed, but something tells me that's not going to happen because you produce more whining than free software for other people to download, use, and hopefully enjoy. If you find our free software that unusable, and they don't enhance your server, you're free to stop using them and stop posting in our forum threads any time you see fit. I can't imagine anyone will be forming search parties to find you."

These plugins work fantastically well for what we are using them for on our server. It is my sincere hope (note that hope denotes a complete lack of guarantee) that other server operators will be able to make them serviceable for their own players. Most servers are a patchwork quilt of many bukkit plugins made by many amazing developers who give freely of their time and expertise and ask for strikingly little in return, and when it comes to getting everything working in a way that makes a server's concept flow, "it's a poor workman who blames his tools" is a wonderful addage to live by.

As for your issue, Dortan, my recollection from the hmod days is that players listed in a properly installed admns.txt file will be able to fly with a feather regardless of the /letmefly command's toggle status, so once you have that installed properly, you should be able to disable flight for "all players" and still be able to fly yourself. Last I saw, this function was still working in the bukkit version of the plugin. If this is not the case and I'll add it to the list for the next time we revisit this absolute dinosaur of a plugin.

    best,

    plusnine.

We used this on our server and had a grand time, but like others I wanted to more feel like flying than blinking and then falling in terror (even though I knew it wouldn't hurt), so yesterday we switched to Wings, which appears to have flight handled in a more relaxing/calming way (which suits us better). Look up to go up, down to go down.

So there are options, if I could I'd keep both, and use Wings with the feather and FlyRidgeFly maybe with a different item as it is nice to be able to look down when spelunking and blink up out of the roof into daylight

Do people can stop nagging Voxel to make it something it isn't :) (I know I've asked as well :()

    Voxel Box

FRF v1.6 is out for patch 1.4 and new versions of bukkit.

As for prior thread discussion, I tested the /thrust command myself and can confirm it works as expected -- I think perhaps what is confusing some people is that the "flap" thrust is measured in vertical travel, not horizontal travel.

Most of us heavy duty builders have become flymod users on the Voxel Box, and the feather is primarily used for walking through walls or moving about tight corridors or floors while building, so a vertical thrust adjustment is what allows us to decide how far up we want to zip to without overshooting things, so we tend to scale thrust DOWN from where it starts rather than up. For how we've been playing, it has really become more like Nightcrawler's *BAMF!* than "flight". Only nostalgia has prevented us from rebranding it as such.

Wings looks interesting; I have not had a chance to try it out myself. I hope some youtube videos will be made available; I would love to see it in action.

Prz and I have been idea-tossing for a few other fun movement-altering plugins, so if that goes ahead some day we may combine it with fly ridge fly and re-imagine what it does in a less confusing package.
