i have had a lot of complaints about people picking langage up off my server so i was wondering if anyone could make a plugin that does not allow people to see swear words until they have done a command such as /filter or /nofilter. the email from a players parent (filterd)

    To whoever this may concern:
i am writing to complain that my five year old son was swearing at the computor the other day. his exact words were "this f****ing thing wont go right", please put a chat filter on your game or i can not allow my son to play any more.
    yours faithfully, Anne Boyard.

now the issue lies that players would not appreciate this at all and i want to keep them ALL happy so a chat filter for only certen people to bypass and others not to see would be great :) thanks.

    basic breakdown
people who type /filter cannot see others swear or swear themselvs
people that type /nofilter can see others swear and swear themselvs

also a message when you join that tells you the commands like "please type /filter if your under (age, configurable) or /nofilter if your over (age, configurable) please be honest"

Great suggestion - I'll talk to the other admin on my server who makes plugins, we already have an anti-spam plugin, so this shouldn't be relatively hard to implement...

LaxWasHere , Correct me if I'm wrong, but does Pwnfilter let you toggle on / off swearing to specific players?

PREDATOR22233 Do you still need this? Meh, making it anyways for my own server

You should probably tell them not to allow their 5 year old son on a multiplayer game?

Tirelessly Best solution, probably... after all, can't really prevent inappropriate builds and such.

that would be great if you could make this :) thanks

yes some owners may do that, but i value every last one of my players and i wont tell a player to never come back again if i can find a solution as i said i want everyone happy.

Even so, nothing good will come out of having a 5 year old on the internet.

What are you getting at..? I'm just saying that a 5 year old shouldn't be on a multiplayer game.

thats not true it helps promote social skill maby not an open envornment such as this server but a closed one sure( closed=family like brothers or father and yes i know a father that plays minecraft with 16 year old son and his 8 year old girl)

I can look into this but, I doubt that the way chat event works it is possible. Filters are run against a message going into chat and then altered before being displayed to everyone.. this would probably require a complete chat handling plugin that uses channels or something like that. Players could enter the safe-global or the free-global and the chat filter would have to send the safe msg to one and the raw msg to the other.
