A new CraftBukkit Recommended Build (1.4.7-R1.0) that provides Minecraft 1.4.7 compatibility is now available. This build fixes issues found in the last Beta (1.4.7-R0.1) like not being able to place beds under certain circumstances and adds support for entities to use portals.

Will plugins break with this build?
Provided the developers of the plugins you are using are keeping up with the development of Bukkit, all your plugins should work fine.

Please note this Recommended Build contains a new safeguard to protect servers against unchecked and thus potentially damaging plugins. See the announcement here for more information:

    Known Issues:
    • None.
For more detailed information on what is contained in this update, please see the changelog here.

    This version works great!

  10. I dont know why but with this RB my server use more CPU than Beta.

PD: I use same plugins and same versions.

So with all these changes being implemented, is it safe to say if older plugins work with this version, they should work with future versions?

I have plugins that haven't been modified since 1.2.5 and work just fine. These plugins, which add core functionality to my server, rely solely on the Bukkit API. Any plugin that relies solely on the Bukkit API is likely to work with many different CraftBukkit versions (its why we have an API).
Granted, there are occasions when we need to break the API, but those changes come few and far between and they are always done with great care and consideration.

  13. Nice!

I was expecting this build for a long time!

    Good job Bukkit Team!

Changing the server view distance to anything less than 10 is still lowering the mob spawn cap to ridiculous lows. It existed in the last R, and I was extremely hopeful that it would be fixes when I updated this week. I've done some searching, is it a chunk loading/not unloading issue? Or what is the workaround if lowering view distance is necessary?

1.5 Pre-release is out! I hope it won't take you too much to code a bukkit version of it!

When could we expect a 1.5-R0.1 beta build? Now that 1.5 pre-release is out, it would be great for the bukkit team to get working on a build early.
