War by doolittle was an amezing plugin. It needs a future.

Hello everyone. I was working on my upcomming public server and i was trying to use a plugin called war. (if you don't know what war is: download this awesome made still working plugin by doolittle. (dev build) or just have a look at this video or thread)

Guys, don't expect many bug fixes/new featues. The dev seems to have lost interest in the project or is really busy with other things.

I know that doolittle has stopped war development due to real life stuff and not having time. Downloading the older dev build works fine. the recommended one has messed up portals.

I searched a little bit further. I haven't been able to find any fix so i searched the config once again until i found this:

Theres no, and then absolutely no way of NBT tagged items being remembered.
so what i did: i went on and looked around. this is what i found:


Dun dun duuuuun! working NBT tagged items in war. What the hell? this makes no sense! how is that possible? They modified it... hmmm
So. The question i wanted to ask you awesome unbelievable plugin devs out there to ask Doolittle if any of you can take over development for his plugin. Server owners don't have to hack it to get such little thing done. I don't know how to do it to be honest. But this plugin needs to stay alive!
I know way to many servers out there that use this.

Anyone? any fixes for tags? plugin edits, add ons? or maybe even an updated version?

 

Even when allowed by license, it's a good idea to get permission from the original creator before updating / editing / modifying etc

Anyways, war is a horrible plugin, no offence. It's got soo many bugs, and its very easy to accidently destroy your arena...

 

skipperguy12 IIRC there's also some terrible handling with PlayerMoveEvent, which makes it lag like crazy on large servers.

 

I suck at it. It would be really cool to learn because I have some cool ideas stored in the back of my mind.
EDIT: Anyway. I've created this post mainly to prevent people to hack it like that because theres another updated version with less glitches somewhere.

Is there any better plugin with the same features. i like the fact that its got the glass in place of having a mega bedrock wall around your map. It just defeats the scenery. But if theres anyone to continue war. they could fix it!

EDIT: And no. It doesn't Its never broken my arena ever before. No offence but maybe you just suck at using it

i know i posted it in there. Ask him to update..... Plugin addons are new external plugins. That needs no licence. And hacks are just illegal. But i prefer the first two by myself. Hacking really isnt the best solution and it will cause more glicthes.

I didn't know that. well i guess i had a reason for thinking that. Theres been mods out there. That you could mod.
so a mod in a mod mod. Right spot? I do know! I've been working with NBT and metadata for a long time. But using other programs like MCedit or WraithNBTjar. My plugin coding knowledge sucks. But I know the edges of the game
