    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

Ah, ok I get what you mean now, have a second tree of permissions for pset, that make clear sense to me now that you said it in that manner :) I can do that, it will make the config horrendously long lol, but o well, more power to the admins lol. Actually it wouldn't be that much longer since there is only 5 flags for pset anyway right now, build move, use, tp, and admin. Il just tack it onto the config under a "playerflagaccess:" tree in the yml file.

Thanks, can't wait for the update
also i think it has to do more with bukkit then residence but people are able to place and use doors even if the flags for build and use are set to false but they can't destroy doors, not a big issues but i'm sure griefers would love to just load my hills and valleys up with doors if that the only thing they can do. tho it would probably just make me laugh if it did happen.

    bekvon

Hehehe, that would be quite funny. Just a bunch of random doors that you can pretend to walk through. But yea, its a bukkit issue. They are changing doors to fire a different event, going to be onPlayerInteract instead of onBlockInteract and they are just in the middle of transitioning right now, so theres nothing plugin developers can do but wait.

I think so many server admins are wanting this its not even funny.. This hasnt been in since "realms".

also - is there a way to set the protected area to be something other than a square?

one more question - can we toggle 'default' protections/flags in a config file? All protections will have X on (like no pvp or building)

I think most users will use their regions/residences for block protection...

AND.... One last thing... Support for welcome/leave messages when players enter?

For right now, there wont be anything besides a square / rectangle. It becomes so horrendously complicated doing collision checks on polygons, that I dont even want to think about it...... However, you will be able to make some different shapes in the future, as I plan on making you able to attach more then one physical cuboid to a residence. Basically, make a single logical residence composed of multiple physical zones. This way you can also do something like make two houses apart from each other and then protect them under the same residence. And of course, there will be configuration options for this :)

As for default permissions settings, yea il get around to making those too... wow this config file is going to get long....

And for leave / welcome messages, yea I think I am going to implement them. Shouldn't be too hard now that I have most of the groundwork for this plugin done.

    A simple /res protect circle 50 - would work :p

Also when I say "default" I meant a configurable starter group that all players are in for Permissions - it doesnt have to be "all" players, I would prefer a perms node since the 'starter' players are largely those who are restricted access and must 'apply' to be in the build group for most servers.

Well I think i did nothing else than trying to set up a subzone. Also deleted the old zone and tried it with a new one, still the same error. Btw I'm using Permissions and the latest server build if this of any relevance. I have given myself all the Permissions with the residence.* permission and am able to use all the other commands just fine.

Worst plugin ever, even with permissions and setting all flags true it says Player does not have permission to use this flag.

Ummm... You need to calm down, and be nice. Just because you can't get it to work, doesn't mean that something is wrong with it. Something is probably wrong with whatever you are doing.

All players not in a group are thrown into "default" always. If for whatever reason "default" doesn't exists, they are just denyed access to everything. It just occured to me I should make a config option for what the "default" group should be named though rather then just having it statically assigned to "default"...... Unless I can somehow pull the default group name from permissions? either way adding to todo list :)

Should be fixed now in new version :) it was a bug in my code.

This has been planned, just not done yet :)

Thanks for that reply to him :)

So i've been using this plugin for a little bit now and I've found that people can still destroy block in protected areas I have the build flag set to false and players cannot place blocks any idea whats wrong?

  19. Offline

    bekvon

Ok, first off as a note, if you have the "residence.admin" permission node, you ignore all flags and can do whatever you want. Second, what CB version are you using?
If what your saying is that they can break blocks but not place them... that sounds more like a issue with bukkit to me, because both the break event and place event are almost exactly the same, and are set up exactly the same. It could also be that you have a conflicting plugin that is messing something up.

so using commandsign I got your plugin to automatically give a area of land by right clicking on a sign.
its a pain in the ass tho because u need to teleport to the sign so your in the middle of the area, and /c is an alias to select the area.
anyway i think it would make a cool feature for your plugin, Maybe you could implement something like this at some point. :)

Aye, should be one of the next things on the todo :)

Just fixed it, try the new version.

EDIT: by the way, the message command changed a tiny bit, <residence> now comes first or you can leave it off and it will use your current residence your standing in. So, its /res message <residence> [enter/leave] [message]

I'm a tad confused - so are resident 'set' groups in? or do they still have to obey the permission's group setup?

Also - you rock for putting in the majority of my requests :)
