Colored Swords

I discovered if you put a leaf block on your head using Essentials' /hat, your sword will also become green. So I'm wondering if it would be possible to create swords of other colors. Not actually creating a new item, just pulling a color that already exists and combining it onto an existing item, like what's happening with the leaves.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the item turns green because of a bug, and so I highly doubt you would be able to change the colour.

Try to recreate the /hat command or even ask md_5 for some help. Then make the block on your head not visible.

Yeah, it's a minecraft glitch, so I doubt that it would be very predictable if you tried to reproduce it.
