Update (Oct 27 @ 10:24 PM EST): We've just pushed out our first CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.4.2 development build, see this post for more information.

    --------------------------

With the Minecraft 1.4 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.4. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the rapid release of preview builds for the impending 1.4 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.4.2. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.4 preview was made available to the public, each new preview build leads to delays in our update process as we, essentially, need to start over with each one.

In the past releasing a Recommended Build has caused apparent confusion within the community, as a result for this release, and moving forward, we will follow the "Dev -> Beta -> Recommended Build" release methodology. We are going to release a Beta build as soon as we can get a stable build devoid of any significant bugs.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.3.2 builds, we have promoted a new Recommended Build recently. This was done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.4 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.3.2 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

Idk about all of you but the newest developmental build worked great with my server. I just replaced it with the 1.3.2 craftbukket.jar and all my plugins and permissions worked great i'm having no problems. My server will be public in a few days hope to see you all there. Unfortunately it seems I'll be waiting for the Multiverse family of plugins to update as well... :(

I cannot reproduce that on the Bukkit 1.4.2 dev builds.
Multiverse is working fine for me.

I'm new to Minecraft, but an old hand at IT. I must say that you guys are doing an excellent job both at developing a server that is easy to maintain and at informing your users.

    Kudos and thank you!

Hey KICKASS GUYS!!!! GOOD JOB!!! That was a GREAT Turn-a-round!

Do you happen to have a List of Know issues?
Is there somewhere you would like me to send (Drunken) bug reports? [Yes, I'm just home from the bar, again. I had nothing better to do until Y'all were done! :p ]
I Figure you'd all just rather sleep for a couple days.
but in case not, lemme know anyway I can help (I do this for a living, Just in the Medical field instead of games...)

One thing I haven't worked out is, when I run vanilla 1.4.2 I get a different nether than when I run Craftbukkit. We are somewhat lost (in the nether), but it does appear to be the same world, but vastly different area. Those players that were in Nether (in vanilla), will spawn inside netherack or lava pools. Does the math differ now? Or is it when the Origin (in nether) has to be moved, that everything is offset?

As our server's been quiet lately decided to update to Craftbukkit 1.4.2. Do I report bugs here?

So far all squid appear to be flying and chickens (possibly other animals too) are not responding to wheat at all. Not following the player and not eating it.

Thanks for such a quick dev build :) Enjoying the weirdness XD

    Edit 28/10/2012:
Oh, I derped a bit there. Chickens eat seeds now.

b2412 running without problems so far, all major plugins work fine (WorldGuard, CommandBook, Multiverse, LogBlock, heck, even Dynmap!)

So after some testing, Command Blocks do not work, and there's no "gamerule" command. x.x

Cheers! Now the fun begins! It's curious people seem to be treating as more of a live beta than a version still in development. Yet, at the same time, not a lot of noise re: bugs yet. This bodes well for seeing this get to RB pretty fast.

    It's still early, I suppose....

  23. Where is the new commands? Like /gamerule etc...

Dev build has been running great for a few hours now, no bugs have popped up so far. Thanks for the awesome work.

Is 1.3.2 R0.3 compatible with 1.4? I've seen some bukkit servers working now, and I'd like to know! :)

  26. Ah good shout. I was under the impression that the red dev build button always grabbed the latest build and that the URL was static.

    YAY! Bukkit 1.4.2!

    Sadly its a dev build.
If I tried running 1.3.2 plugins on it would it work?

You will be the best judge of that after you test your plugins running on the 1.4.2 dev build. :p

This is a newbie question, I know, but do I just replace the craftbukkit.jar file with the new one? Do I have to rename the new one, or would it work as is?
