With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

When the complaint is about a 'week' waiting after the 1.3 release, nope - I don't have to count it.

Tell you what why not pay the devs what, are programmers on lets say $50 an hour. No? You do realise they don't have to release anything, they do it for the passion of providing something for the community and you moan because you have to wait a few days. If you want to play 1.3 on a server run vanilla, if you want extras why not code your own software and plugins for it no one is stopping you...

To the bukkit team have a look to see if you can hide the final RB download link from people like this!

Why is bukkit so important to minecraft? if thye would add simple features to minecraft like bukkit has. ea.. world guard, esseintials, shops, dragon flight, and so on. only a very few would accually use bukkit or need bukkit. HERES AN IDEA... hire the bukkit team to write code for minecraft to do though things and work well so we want have to have this forum about not having a working game......hmmmmmmmm

Ever hear of the 1.4 API?

And you have submitted how many patches? How many bug reports? I'm not sure why you feel entitled to have it right away. It's software that is provided to you for free. If you don't like the waits then install a vanilla minecraft server and off you go, oh but wait I'm sure you don't want to run vanilla minecraft. Get over yourself.

I think you answered your own question:

The things you cited: World Guard, Essentials, Shops, DragonFlight - they were made possible by Bukkit. Bukkit provides an API for the developer to easily plug into Minecraft (thus extending it) and as a framework so that plugins written by different people and groups and easily co-exist as well as communicate with each other... on top of that it also provides a layer between the features of the server and the developers plugins that lessens the impact of things changing (as they just did in 1.3).

What you're proposing is to hire the team to rewrite things they didn't originally make, as well as rewrite the framework to make those things work together and update cleanly...so.... around 8 times the work for no additional plugins, and for something I personally wouldn't find useful at all.

I think I'll pass on that.

It will take time, and anyone who uses bukkit on a regular basis learns that quality comes to those who are patient. Waiting a little longer than expected is nothing big, I am more hoping the plugin developers are paying closer attention, lol.

    Suggested Bookmark - http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/

No RB yet but as you can see they are ploughing through the bugs/updates pretty quickly, 39 dev builds for 1.3 and counting.

How sturdy are the current dev builds? Capable of supporting a server for a short bit till the recommended build comes out?

Dev builds are fine, the one thing that isn't are plug-ins that have not updated to the new chat event

Does anyone know how well the dev works and what version they are on?

The DB works pretty well, still a bunch of plugins that do not work/getting fixed, many actually work quite well. http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/ This shows the current DB

Happiness report: downloaded most recent dev build. I went exploring to find one of the temples. I found one, not in the jungle though. Me and one of the kids that play on my small server explored it, found the trap, and the found emeralds and diamonds in the tunnels beneath. THe happiness of that kid made all the waiting on plugin authors to update their plugins and for the final RB for Bukkit worth the wait. Keep up the good work. Most recent dev build still has bugs of spawn just standing in one spot when on fire, but still works pretty good. GOod enough for the kid tonight. :p

A week is not a long time. The Bukkit team does now, and has always done a fantastic job with getting RBs out in a decent amount of time.

-can't tell if sarcastic or just new to this-

You make a good point... So it would be pure vanilla with limited moderation powers then... Hmmm....

been using the dev builds since the firt one and update to the latest dv build every few hours when there are new ones. They work perfect. Some plugins derp but you can play !
Some lag here and there but nothing big.
You can even say that there is not much dif between 1.2.5 and 1.3.1 exept for some lag sometimes.

Keep up the good work devs. And keep in mind that they work as good as free for you all so you can have good plugins etc..

I come here now to celebrate with you my friends. Just updated to the latest Dev build for 1.3.1, and for the first time I have no errors, I have no warnings, and I am running all of my plugins. The server started like a peach and in only a couple seconds. Congrats Bukkit Team. I have a (to the best of my knowledge at this point) bug free server. The lag is not as bad, and I don't see the warp problems I was having. You have done wonderfully. Looking forward to RB 1.3.1-R.1

OH NO, they will never fix any of the bugs in a DEV build.

    /sarcasm off.

To be honest, they will fix it, and if you had read at least a couple pages, you would have know that other peopel are having the same issue.

I think he might've meant peachy. But it makes me wonder... how well would Bukkit run on various fruits?

 ignore me, I've clearly gone bananas.

Ahhh.... great, with the latest build all startup errors with multiverse are gone :). Nice!

  31. And while the main dl page doesn't say it, 1.3.1-R1.0 is available for download (I was getting 404's when I saw the tweet about the version update) :)

So far, it's looking really good. Chunk loading after a world jump via multiverse is snappy.

EDIT: And it's officially an RB per the dl.bukkit front page.
