It's good for Tekkit servers as he makes a special version for Tekkit.

I'll tell my friend, he's been looking for one that's especially for Tekkit :)

i prefer coreprotect as it only rollsback in radius not everything the player has done

  6. I'm still using LogBlock.. remember that? I actually still works; I'm hesitant to change, but I think 1.3 will force me too. How does coreprotect compare?

Read the above posts.. Also, LogBlock is fully updated to 1.3.

I have used LogBlock in the past for quite some time and it was great up until it started not restoring properly for no apparent reason. My rollbacks were not coming out properly and that's just no good. They were becoming scrambled for some reason.

I eventually settled on HawkEye despite the performance concerns, because I like having the web interface on a remote server to check up on things. It has worked absolutely great for the past 6 months or so.

Obviously now HawkEye is abandoned or something so I thought I might have to look for a new logging plugin too. Fortunately someone looks to have at least taken it on and updated it and may report their progress here: http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/hawkeye/forum/other/38040-should-someone-take-over/#p13

I was considering going with CoreProtect though. I like how it incrementally restores things rather than causing lag (though I feel the others probably do this too to some extent) and I like the look of all it's features. I tested it and it does appear to work fine, though I definitely will have to use MySQL.

As for how they all compare with SWatchDog I can't say because I haven't tested that one. There are also some others out there but I haven't tested those either. It would be great if there was some sort of comparison chart or something to compare features, stability and reliability and whatever else but that would take some time so maybe some day I will have to give it a shot.

I have an allergy to abandoned plugins, where there's no certainty it will be around next patch unless some kind soul steps in to save it One More Time, so I've been trying out both CoreProtect and SwatchDog. Swatch has no mySQL option, but they split the data into tons of little text files and he says the performance doesn't degrade thusly. I found their rollback to be a little awkward to use, but I only played with it briefly. CoreProtect seems pretty good so far. I have such a small server that griefing isn't really an issue so, for me, these plugins are usually just used to audit what happened where if I have a question or to fix creeper holes (which CP does like a champ).

Ahhh, thank you! I was trying to figure out why I was only getting 1 line. They don't mention it at all in their "How to use the inspector" section:

I don't suppose there's a "/co here 20" type option to see everything done in a radius around you, sorted by time?

    ...

You can use the area parameter with LogBlock and it rolls back in a radius.

    zipfe and np98765 like this.

I got so hyped for Guardian... And then it flopped. Literally.

I used it for a little while on my server, but it lacked so much stuff and was ultra slow.

It took an hour to pull up results for a block with no changes... ._.

Exactly! And the rollback feature was useless... It took HOURS to rollback a small amount of block changes.

Yeah. I can't even imagine rolling back what takes LogBlock 50 seconds to rollback...

I got so fed up with the console spam, too. I was building my spawn and using lots of WorldEdit... I had ~1 million blocks in my queue. And then it announces the count every 5 seconds.

    Oh well.

    Do you use LogBlock now?

Yep. Used to use CoreProtect, but I don't really like flatfile storage for block logging. Plus I like LogBlock better overall. :3

    How about you?

Same, love how it logs like everything.

Yeah, it's definitely nice. Not had a single problem with LogBlock, either.

    End of discussion.
I was really looking forward to Guardian too. but, meh.

    LogBlock for Normal Shit
SwatchDog for Tekkit (As Sanz has an optimized version for Tekkit servers)

i like to see log block do a better job at logging chat think i rather see that file get saved as a daily text file

What does it do right now? I don't use the LB chat logging feature, I actually use a chat logger. :p

it just put everything into a mysqyl file, not the easiest to read over and guess which number relates to which person who said it

    I think LogBlock is good!

I Would personally say Log Block is better by a tiny bit, but for this debate i dare say it really depends on personal preference. The main reason I use Log Block is because it's got the features I need and doesn't have all those features I'd never use + I had a little lag with core-protect, nothing major but it was enough to bug me. I Guess if you want a feature packed block logging tool core-protect may be more useful to you, If you want a plugin that does what it needs to do and not much else, Log Block is probably best for you.

Also, not sure if it's just me but I'v found deleting my logs once a month with both plugins makes the server run a little smoother.
