With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

    No not really.
Haven't slept in days. On top of the update my 1year old server files got wiped somehow, had to rebuild my server.

looks like since the latest dev build alot of plugins are saying

    Code:
2012-08-04 07:58:15 [WARNING] [WorldGuard] "WorldGuard v627-0fed35a" has registered a listener for org.bukkit.event.player.PlayerChatEvent on method "public void com.sk89q.worldguard.bukkit.WorldGuardPlayerListener.onPlayerChat(org.bukkit.event.player.PlayerChatEvent)", but the event is Deprecated. Server performance will be affected; please notify the authors [].
    org.bukkit.plugin.AuthorNagException
sadly does this mean i need to wait for the plugin authors to update? as does not look like they have from what ive checked... :(

That's just as bad as saying 'When will it be out?' But even more annoying...

    That's a plugin issue.

    Disable all your plugins.

I wonder what the Bukkit team is working on right now regarding 1.3.1 bugs? The last I remember was the Piston extension bug (redstone + piston next to it would make multiple things that stick out). Nevertheless, good job on the work Bukkit team! Your work is greatly appreciated by everybody.

Maybe we could all just chill out and see the bigger picture here:

Bukkit is for free, who are we to demand the team to work faster!

It's a game, some people act like it's their life at stake here!

We should all remember, we all have one thing in common, and that's the love for this game. The game was created for all types and ages, everybody should stop bit**** about eachother and give it a rest. Do you really think all this resentment is being constructive in any way? Sure, this a platform to express criticism, but do so and after that get a life!

Bukkit is doing a great job and the day the new Craftbukkit is out, these discussions will be redundant anyway.

You do have to keep in mind some people are invested in their Minecraft server.
Not just time wise but also in terms of money.

Sure, so do I. I run my own server and for my friends, I pay a lot to give them what they want. But that is my decision, as it is all of our decision to invest in this game. We can't let our responsibility become a general problem and "force" others to carry that responsibility, in my opinion. Nobody is forcing us to put all this time and passion into a game, so we should act that way.

True, but you have to keep in mind you could just run a vanilla minecraft server. Without the Bukkit team we would not have half the fun! I feel it's a shame Mojang don't support the Bukkit team more. Perhaps releasing updates to them a week earlier would give them chance to iron out a lot of bugs and keep people from whining all the time.

For my server it's running 1.2.5 if people update and can't get on that's their fault! I'm running the test builds on my other server and found it rather stable just waiting for plugin devs to catch up.

yeah running the latest dev build and it seems stable now... just the plugins needing to update to stop the listener error in console.

Feel free to hire the Bukkit team then, developer rates are $50+/hour.

As long as Bukkit is for free, I have no trouble with waiting a week or two for a proper release.

Ok you guys can take your time with the new release, but maybe i'll just use minecraft_server.jar until the latest build comes out. thx for the info.

Maybe you should re-evaluate what you're investing money in. Or, like Cue said, hire developers if its such an investment for you. Bukkit team owes you nothing, no matter how much you've spent.

I have been spamming the refresh button on this page non stop for 3 days now. It never ceases to amaze me how little people understand about what has to go in to one of these updates. every single line of code that is called from the game has to be accounted for and compatible. just thinking about that makes my eyes cross. I dont know about any of you but i will most definatly be clicking the "donate" button to help support these guys and at the very least keep them in coffee and redbull! I recomend the rest of you do the same. I know that with out the awsome things that bukkit lets me do on my server, i would not have 1/2 of the players that i do!

What changed so heavily with build 2285?
Every build up to 2285 worked pretty well plugin-wise but as soon as you hit 2285 and up almost every plugin is failing to register events, even when they are alone.
    So what happened there?

Seems to be Removed org.bukkit.event.player.PlayerChatEvent from the list of superclasses

Why has this been removed? Seems like a bit of a weird decision. Could this not have remained as some sort of override of its new replacement?

As far as I can tell AsyncPlayerChatEvent is identical apart from setPlayer() but with a different name that plugins obviously weren't compiled with.

Is there no way to use PlayerChatEvent to just run AsyncPlayerChatEvent? :<

If everyone would stop raging at eachother about useless crap they would notice there is a serious issue.
You can rush bukkit all your want but if it stays like this every single plugin with a chat command will need to be updated.

What do we do about the deprecated event short up updating everything?

That last bit pretty much sums it up. Nothing is stopping existing servers from continuing full steam ahead running 1.2.5 until the new bukkit is released, and for that matter even until any plugins that need to be updated get fixed up to work with it. I decided a couple of weeks ago that I was going to start a server but realized that with a new version coming soon there wasn't any point in making it public until it was released. In the mean time we are building stuff for the spawn city and saving it all with worldedit. People need to learn to be a bit more patient. I'd rather wait a little longer and have a RB that is stable versus either running a development build that is bound to have issues or worse yet the bukkit team rushing out a RB and it having serious bugs.

I find it amusing that you feel entitled to bukkit server software being delivered to you. Well guess what, you aren't. It's a privilege to be able to download and run a bukkit server, not a right. Nothing is stopping you from continuing to run with 1.2.5 until the new one is out. If your users are too stupid to keep from updating or don't use a profile manager to be able to have multiple versions of the client installed then that's their fault...and partially yours for not enlightening them.

A development build is out and available for download, but you should wait for recommended or beta to come out, development builds often have bugs ;)
