With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

any news on the lag thing> I've been experimenting, seems to be related to sending chunks to the client.

The lag issue may not be bukkit at all.

I decided to set my regular map aside and just run a stock version of the minecraft server ( with a newly generated map ) until there is a 1.3 RB from Bukkit, and I've had several people complain that the lag is horrible for them now.

 you're telling me that mojang released their commercial product with an almost crippling spike in the profile?
Are you talking about an even spread of lag, or this very predictable 10min lag spike, its enough to cause TCP to fail and getting thrown out to a server that's inaccessible for a few seconds.
It seems also to be related to signing in, many servers on my list are up and down like crazy, not off, just comms error, and if you connect to one too close to a comms error it will error again.

I'm still getting a lot of lag. Sometimes my server crashes and generates a crash report. Other times I get "Connection reset" and "Read timed out".

yea, looks like something isnt getting parsed in the chunk sending area (I don't know details I've not decompiled it).
Would explain when it tries to send chunks quickly its loosing something.

Latest dev build does NOT shutdown properly. /stop turns the process into a zombie and nothing short of sending forcekill signal will end it (kill wont even end it (linux server))

Also eats 200% of cpu (aka 2 cores)

ppl running linux servers, this is how you would end it.

in ssh type "top" this will list all running process, find your java process, copy the PID then type ctrl + c. then type
"kill -9 <pid>" to forcekill the process.

Agree with the previous poster about the lag issue.
I'm running on vanilla atm and my server is lagging more than ever before...

I run a private server that is still in development, i tried 1.3.1 and then i set my server back to 1.2.5 and gave a heads up to my admin team to wait.. i can wait a few days or weeks. Good work to the dev team for working on something thats meant to be pure joy. My advice to everyone is to be patient and wait for a solid stable build nothing wrong running 1.2.5 its good and will be even after 1.3.1 just my 2 cents

I have updated to dev build 2270 recently, and that seems to have significantly reduced the lag, it's still there but not near as bad.

It was a bit crazy to do but we are running with 50 plugins, no errors, been watching the updates as they happen and so far, we only have a couple issues that wouldn't be Production Level ready....

PvP in worldguard doesn't acknowledge the flag it's always off.

Some regions lava/water can be placed but still have the flow or its fire spread disabled.

Reports of duping before but not sure if the latest CB has fixed that. No current reports from members.

I was shocked that overall, we were able to even run. We hold around 18 to 20 on TPS with the occasional lag spike but we all know it's a dev build and anything could go at any point :)

Bukkit Team, you are amazing. I am impressed with your skills and dedication. This , today, proved that to me even more so. Thank you.
