When will CraftBukkit for 1.3 be released?

    With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

    Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

    As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

    I actually, after suggesting it, decided to go ahead and throw the 1.3 jar on my server and swap the command line over.
    Going to delete this map once bukkit updates, so it really doesn't matter what people do to it for the time being, and it gives them a chance to check out the new game content (everyone has creative).

    There's always positive opportunities, and no reason why waiting for the bukkit update needs to be stressful or negative. My players have had creative mode for the last week (in our normal world) and freebuild permissions, just because I knew this update was coming and new it would likely cause issues.

    Most of your plugins would probably work in the update, like essentials and factions ect, but new features or any plugins that use a part of the api that got changed/replaced in the update will throw errors. You can tell which ones need to update to work when you start your server with the 1.3 build and watch the console for errors.

    No i do not work for software companies, however my education in CS is not just for show. He states that he has been programming, i gave explicit examples and asked him to provide the same, thus you are labeling me as a child?
    See that is just not how we do it where i come from, we have something called argumentation by proof, so if you state something you have to provide a certain degree of proof for your statements. But by all means continue making a fool of yourself, it only makes me laugh harder

    i did label you as a child, with little information to go on, which is the case in this style of communication, I had nothing to go on but your extremely mature comment. On the internet we don't always state a fact, then have to post references to it just top satisfy people, its not a PHD paper (thank god!).

    Well I don't want to be the one blaming bukkit because I know how hard they're working to get all things work correctly but I'm new at bukkit so it would please me to know how long time it uses to take before the build is done?

    News flash for those who keep assuming all plugins will be fine. This is actually QUITE a major change to the code as we know it. Even IF the simplest thing added is a few new blocks, WorldGuard would be useless against them. How does it know what ID number?

    Towny? Easily broken as soon as someone set a tripwire set up in there.

    Remember that the plugins don't just magically work with a ton of new MineCraft features. Someone does actually need to write the update and release it.

    It does make sense, but there have been a few updates where i didnt wait for the new essential and everything worked ok just couldnt give new blocks and some other non server crashing things. thats why i said the best way to see what is going to "work" not work perfectly but work, to watch the console on startup. if something doesnt throw errors or load at all the server should still boot fine.

    nope and nope! might think about having a permission on enderchests tho and have only "premium" member access to a global chest system or something along those lines. or could be a great bung-it-in box,.
    or most likely, it'll get reserved for admins. :/

    Alright fair enough, in that regard 1.3 may have no issues with a few things. My concern is that some of those small errors can lead to big problems and exploits. Even if a plugin loads error free, its interaction with a new world / other plugins can cause unseen issues early on.

    Never underestimate the power of your Community to find the bugs and glitches before you do :)

    me myself think it's an awesome feature :) but I still wonder will all players see the same things inside or will each player has his own "account" in the chest?

    I noticed this user got a warning. What is wrong with all caps? It doesn't take up more line space vertically as a larger font would do, as we use capital letters in regular sentences too. It perhaps made his post a little longer, sure, but aside from some people reading it in their heads as someone yelling, I do not see what the user did wrong. If anything, it certainly made his post a lot easier to read.

    how would worldguard be useless against the new blocks, it was fine with the last dozen or so new blocks they added with the last release. should be the same thing, it guards against placing, breaking etc regardless of the number, and if you block a block (heh) then YOU specificity the number, wg doesn't. I dont get that.
    And how would tripwires break Towny? again same principle as wg, except until someone updates you wont be able to turn tripwires off individually.

    We have both creative and survival worlds. Fill enderchest with diamond blocks in creative, open in survival. Presto!

    the first release of 1.3 will be "untested" anyway

    so exploits are at your own risk of using it. thats how it goes with being impatient.
    i also have a dev server to test such issues before putting it on the main server.
    If you have a server that is important to you and dont want it f'ed up, always test things :p

    No the internet is not a PHD or thesis paper, but still like i replied to him, i wrote something i expected to have 37-50 hours on and ended up logging nearly 10 times that. i replied 3 times to him, in which i made it perfectly clear that i am not unqualified in the area of coding. And him saying i've programmed before without any references as to what is the same as me saying i've been a firefighter after dousing a campfire.
