Feel free to PM and pester me in whatever way possible if this happens again. I've been busy studying and I think my work has suffered a little bit, but in any case it should never take that long, so something must have been overlooked. Sorry.

15 hours is quite acceptable turnaround time for getting a file approved.

...what!? If anything it should be less than one hour. Don't have the time? Not enough BukkitDev staff? Hundreds of people applied for the position, and many have offered their help. So that excuse is out. I'm sure the turnaround time would be a lot less if you guys actually picked more staff, specifically enough to cover all timezones.

The staff don't live on the internet, remember that.

    Blasphemy.

That being said, you have to remember that they do their best. They are people too and have lives and other things to deal with besides Bukkit, on top of thatthey have to monitor the forums AND approve the files (which I am sure they get a lot of).

More staff dosn't mean better service, just because you have 500 moderators doesn't mean they will be any good. They take what they need and that is how its done, I can understand that 15 hours is a long time but that is plenty of time to be working on something else rather then sitting there clicking the refresh button.

Yup, that's why you pick 500 good moderators. And I'm pretty sure someone (@NuclearW?) wrote a script they can use that notifies them when there's a new file to approve, so you can go about your normal business until a file needs your attention.

Seems you missed the point, the point is that you can't expect them to drop everything to take care of your needs. Its a community here, meaning they are not getting any money for this. They are doing this because they want to and I doubt that missing a file for a day is their biggest concerns; As for the staffing, like I said, its going to be quality of quantity. I'm sure there are quiet a few people on the forums that would make good staff but that is up to their discretion, they decide if they need more staff and seems right now they don't think they do. So just continue on, worry about your own work rather then the work of others.

You hit the nail on the head! :D

Just kidding, reviewing files isn't hard and can be fun, but we definitely have other things to do as well.

My point exactly, it's not that it's hard it's that you have other things to do as well. People just need to be patient and if their plugin users need the newest version right that second, they can download the unreviewed files.

Not everyone who applied is a good moderator. Also, to my knowledge there's not a script like that, but essentially you can just reload the page and there will be new files xD

I think you can effectively determine if you are a good DBO staff member if you know LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE PROJECT THAT EXISTS OR HAS EXISTED ON BUKKITDEV EVER BY NAME, IT'S AUTHOR, THE FIRST 4 LINES OF IT'S DESCRIPTION, AND IT'S CURRENT VERSION NUMBER. On a related note, I think my brain is going to explode out of my head.

I don't know if this is intentional or not, but you can just comment and link directly to files in pending status if it's that big of a deal. (a major bug fix for example)

It's polite of course to note that they are pending, so users can choose to take that risk or not.

I've done it before for users that are waiting for a specific bug fix.

Don't worry, brain explodage is normal. Happens to me too.

True, but I'm sure there's a few in there who would be good.
And I never called you a bad DBO staff member. ;)

You figure there's 19 DBO staff - if each and every one of them were active in approving projects and files, that's almost to the point where all of them just have to do it for an hour a day (5 hours left over, so figure 3 of them do 2 hours instead). Now it won't work out perfectly like that, and not all of them actually do anything on DBO (let alone spend an hour a day approving stuff), but I still don't see how something can go under review for 15 hours (that's almost like 15 of them happened to miss it on their one-hour-a-day approving spree!).

tldr; 19 DBO staff, that's more than enough, approval time shouldn't be over four hours. We just need to get active and dedicated ones spread across different timezones.

Seriously, most commercial services take 24-48 hours to reply to a support ticket, and you pay for support. This is a community project and we should just be thankful of the work people do.

We will keep striving for a short turn around time between a file or project being posted, and being reviewed by our staff. I am not convinced we need more staff at this time, however, I will keep an eye on the queue length and ensure we are providing a satisfactory service level.

Right? With all the perks and that fat pay check from being on staff, they should have no trouble taking time away from their friends and family to review user submitted code for 2 hours a day.
