I have heard reports that nether is lagging some people, do you have a crappy computer/graphics card? Its most likely due to the lava.

Zero is correct, it is a client issue could be a mod malfunction or just your computer.

    Greetings,

I am having the same problem. The main world is perfectly smooth, and the nether is unplayably laggy.

I was told in IRC chat that is is a client lighting issue.

Will changing any client setting make a difference? Is there anything that can be doe to help while waiting for it to be fixed?

Is there an article or thread about this somewhere.

    Thanks

    It's a client issue in 1.2.5

    Get Spoutcraft client at http://get.spout.org

Then in video settings you can disable the client lighting feature which will fix your frame rate lag in the nether.(it's not server lag)

lol i got lag too in nether or more like skipping does it really need spoutcraft ?

cause i just disabled this option

and i can fly in nether freely - or maybe it wasnt real lag

That's different. Smooth lighting will help a bit, but the main problem is your client trying to recalculate the light from the server. In Spoutcraft the exact name of the option is called "Client Light." It's a check box under "Graphical Settings"

Lolno, of course not. It's just that the spoutcraft client enhances some features, such as rendering the nether (I suppose).
