I'd like to alert you to the fact that the Bukkit Forums (including bukkit.org) will be temporarily unavailable for a period of approximately one hour whilst vital networking equipment between our web server and database server is replaced and/or repaired by our hosting provider, Multiplay. I cannot at this time give you an estimate of when the work will start, but it should begin some time tonight (GMT).

This replacement should resolve the issues that many of you have been experiencing with the forums as of late.

In summary, the following services will be unavailable:
  • forums.bukkit.org
  • bukkit.org
  • wiki.bukkit.org
The following services may be affected:
  • ci.bukkit.org
  • plugins.bukkit.org
The following services will not be affected:
  • leaky.bukkit.org (bukkit.atlassian.net)
  • dev.bukkit.org
I thank you on behalf of the Bukkit team for your patience whilst these important repairs are underway.

As previously announced, the Plugin Developer tag system had become difficult to maintain and was frozen as a result of this. Since then, we’ve been actively discussing the future of the Plugin Developer tag and, consequently, the Bukkit+ forum.

We do have a couple of possible systems in mind that will take the place of the Plugin Developer tag and will be making an announcement as soon as we decide on which we feel is best for the community.

Until that time, we have decided to remove the developer tag from all existing profiles, while still keeping Bukkit+ available and in use. Any developers who have access to the Bukkit+ forum will retain that access and for those of you who don't have access, we'll be providing a way to get access to Bukkit+ provided you are an upstanding member of the community.

Shortly before we left for Minecon we posted an announcement that our bug tracker, Leaky, was experiencing technical difficulties. Unfortunately, the server Leaky was hosted on suffered a hard drive failure and our attempts to recover the data were unsuccessful. We have a backup of our data, but felt that it would be better to start afresh and keep on top of issues being reported as the old Redmine powered Leaky was very messy and not as actively maintained as we would have liked.

As a result, we have set up a new issue tracker powered by JIRA hosted through Atlassian’s OnDemand service. This service provided by Atlassian is tailored to provide a more robust, reliable and responsive service along with daily backups, which we feel is exactly what we need to provide everyone with the best issue tracker solution possible.

The new tracker can be accessed from https://bukkit.atlassian.net (and later from http://leaky.bukkit.org once the DNS changes have...

So Minecon is over, and we all had a blast! Between giving random autographs, helping out lots of people with issues, and explaining why bukkit isn't out yet, we were working on updating bukkit live at our booth for people to come watch!

We also had a panel during the first day, which was really scary but also lots of fun for all of us. We initially wanted to split it into three parts - intro, Q&A and then twitter Q&A for those who couldn't join us in person, but unfortunately there just wasn't enough time as we had so many great questions to answer.

Unfortunately again we also only had one mic, so the sound quality isn't as awesome as we'd like, but we're working on getting subtitles/captions up soonish to help clear up anything you can't hear :)

For those who are curious, the team members are, in order from left to right: EvilSeph, Dinnerbone, Grum, and Tahg.
