simple protection plugin similar to cuboid. The first protection plugin on Bukkit.

You must, must must create a protectors.txt file in your server directory with a list of users allowed to use protection commands/bypass protections (one username per line, case sensitive).

To enter protect mode, type /pm.

Then use /c1 and /c2 to set the two corners, and /cadd [username] to protect it.

Use /callow [username] while looking at a block in a protected area to add another username to the whitelist.

Use /cdisallow [username] while looking at a block to remove a username from that whitelist.

Use /cdel while looking at a block in a protected area to remove it.

Use /cstatus to see your currently selected coordinates.

Use /cinfo to see who the currently selected Cuboid is protected to.

I've got the place and destroying of blocks in a protected area working but fire's being a bit awkward.

I don't understand, the zone is defined by where you put c1 and c2 at, do you want to limit the possible size??

right, would be great to limit the possible (max-protection) size. i would grant simpleprotect-rights to any regged user but want to/have to limit the zonesize for each of them

Hey, I have everything set up okay, and my area is protected but players can still sometimes remove a block or two. Specifically dirt, leaves, wood and pumpkins for the most part it blocks most attempts but it still drops the ball every now and again. Is this a bug?

This should be done by the end of the week all going well!!

My plan is to get the plugin working first, then I'll add some new features like that in a newer version which I'll release separately.

I have the problem of destruction. Players can not build but they can destroy the blocks of a protected area (build 440 iirc), like dirt, cobblestone, stoneā€¦ but torches for example are well protected.

I have the same problem of destruction. Players can't build but they can destroy the blocks of a protected area.
Fix that and this mod is perfect with simple op default and no dependencies on permissions issues.

Yep that's done. Once it's working ok for everyone, I plan to release it again under a new name with lots of new features. A lot has changed with Bukkit since the plugin was made so there's much better ways to do things.

Apoligies for the delay everyone, my test server went down last night so I'm only after getting a chance to get it back up and running so I can test SimpleProtect.

I've confirmed that it is now fully functional with CraftBukkit builds 454+ including the new recommended build 493.

All of the instructions for the original plugin are the same except for three important differences:
    • All config files for SimpleProtect will now be in a folder in your plugins directory called SimpleProtect, it will contain the protectors.txt file and the protect.dat file.
    • The command /cinfo has been changed to /pinfo so that it doesn't conflict with LWC
    • Players in the ops.txt file have the same rights to protect an area as players in the protectors.txt file
Block destroy and block place in a protected area can only be carried out by allowed players
Block ignite and block flow is not allowed at all in a protected area
Players in the protectors.txt file can destroy and place blocks in any protected area.

Download SimpleProtect Version 2.1 CraftBukkit builds 454+ updated by cian1500ww

    Any problems, let me know.

As I said earlier, I'd like to add some new features to the plugin once I know that this version is working 100% :)

I just tested the plugin (build 440)
It works well, aside from the fact that I must be in the protectors.txt file in spite of my operator status.
Otherwise, the rest works perfectly, I am eager to see the new features.
    Big thank you !!!!

I messed up the final commit to my repo and left out the OP check, if you download the plugin again, it should have the op check in it ;)

    It works !
Except : "Players in the protectors.txt file can destroy and place blocks in any protected area."
FYI I just reload the server, not a really stop then restart.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll look into that and see if I can get it sorted, a quick workaround would be to add your name to the protected area if you'd like to modify a protected area.

I upgraded to the 493 and I get the same result.
However, I prefer because it allows me to test whether the protection is working or not, I just have /callow - /cdisallow to do if I want to change something.
For cons, I found another bug: if I destroyed a panel in a protected area, it reappears empty.

I'll make it optional for protectors to edit a protected area in the next version ;)
What do you mean by a panel?? Is that a specific minecraft item??
