You can host it from your house by IP forwarding or even setup a DMZ (more security for the other home computers). Other than that you are going to have to pay for a server =/
never 100 % free only way for you is to leave your pc on 24/7 or find sponsor who buy you server otherwise you will end up on google searching vps for free which is fake well some sites give you 1 week or 1 month trail for server but i as believe that wont fix your problem
If you know what you're doing, then hosting on an independent host is recommended. It gives you unlimited freedom and customization, something "minecraft hosts" prevent you from doing. Plus, it's usually cheaper :3
