guys i need help asap

i need help guys i have created a bukkit server and i can join with "localhost" but my friends cant join with my ip from http://www.whatismyip.com/ can someone please help me

 

remove IP from the config file
check firewall(s)
configure port forwarding
if on win7 add an advanced firewall rule for java even if firewall is off.

 

did all that and i stilll does not work

 

Double check, because that is what you need to do to make it work.

 

does canyouseeme.org say the port is open?

 

i get a error saying failed to connectto server
connection timed out: connect

 

from canyouseeme, or minecraft?

your ports are not forwarding as you think they are.. fix your settings in your router

you need to tell your router to forward traffic on port 25565 to your server's INTERNAL address (usually 192.168.x.x) both tcp and upd

 

going to factory reset my router

 

uh.. you are probably going to regret that

 

why

 

..and it still won't open the port, since that port is not a factory default

let's see.. password gets reset.. any static ip's get wiped, any other port forwards get wiped, any rules get wiped.. pretty much anything you have changed on the router since you got it gets wiped
(thus FACTORY reset)

at least most routers don't default to enabling web access, since we have his ip

the real question is why would you want to factory reset it..
you just need to add an entry .. probably under games and services, although it depends on your router model/brand

i did add a port i also download a program there now to check if it was open and it says its open

 

I just tried to telnet to IP 86.12.16.103 on port 25565 and it worked. Got an "End Of Stream" error when trying to connect via the MC client - likely your Windows firewall causing the problem now.

yes.. and that is a very good way to test if the problem is the firewall or the router
but when testing, put in the local ip (192....)

You should be able to, once you correct your windows firewall settings as TnT eluded to.

Oh and on windows 7 turning it off does not help, make an advanced rule for java, somewhere in the control panel.
