Groupmanager prefixes won't work! PLEASE HELP

I have a mc server and groupmanager and when I do /manuaddv my name &1owner then I say something to test it. I just displayes as my name in white. PLZ HELP!

I know the commands but when I try to add a prefix to my name it does not show

 

the syntax of what you said isnt correct. if you typed the command correctly (it said it changed your prefix to &1owner) then make sure you have a chat plugin.

 

I did that command it still did not work and I have the plugin but I think it has something to do
