A new CraftBukkit Recommended Build (1.2.5-R1.0) that provides Minecraft 1.2.5 compatibility is now available.

Will plugins break with this build?
Unless the plugin developers of your plugins have been keeping up with Bukkit development, plugins will most likely be broken due to the recent optimisation and cleaning of our code. However, if the plugins you use have already been updated to work with at least 1.1-R7 or at least 1.2.3-R0.1, then you should be fine.

For more detailed information on what is contained in this update, please see the changelog here.

    Download CraftBukkit 1.2.5-R1.0 here

  2. Wewt. Can now implement the plugin I made for a user to make a box o' kittens for others on the server. Yay for kittens. :)

(Okay, she has to make her own box, but it makes it so kittens aren't bound to people when bred so the idea stands!)

[diamondore] Wow, congrats on the speedy update, you even had a Beta Build before 1.2.5 came out!:)

Wow, I'm impressed by how quickly you got this update out. Though I have to ask, is there a reason the posts regarding RBs are no longer being made in the RB board??

  13. 1.2.5 already exists almost a week, mojang did it that way because of updating. so that is why everything is so fast updated

here is the post about it: http://www.mojang.com/2012/03/minecraft-1-2-5-prerelease/

Please note.... The latest build is inducing a considerable CPU load over 1.2.4-R1.0. Typically the server runs with a CPU load of 10% with no users, it is currently at 65-70%. I reinserted 1.2.4-R1.0 and all is well.

Can others confirm the above noted additional CPU load with the latest build?

For me, 1.2.4 idles at 12% to 44%, usually staying below 16%, with no users on it. Whereas, 1.2.5 idles at 32% to 62%, usually staying around 34%, with no users on it. I've confirmed there's some additional cpu usage in 1.2.5 on my side.

Also, I want to say to bukkit. Woohoo! Thanks for the early release. :)

@CPU usage: I haven't updated yet myself, but I've seen this happen with CB version changes in the past... consider running your server with the default minecraft_server.jar for a cycle then restart. That sometimes seems to work for me.

By cycle how long do you mean? Just a few seconds? Or, sun down to sun up? etc

Jeb gave you guys a snapshot of Minecraft 1.2.5 before it was officially released, right? If so, that's how you guys were able to get an update so quickly.

Bukkit team works for mojang now, so it's faster to make a recommended build now.

    Le yay :)

    Code:
Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from
    bukkit-1.2.5-R1.0.jar
Anyone else getting this in their console?

@CPU usage: no problems, servers (1.1-R4 and 1.2.5-R1.0) work fine, java load ~5% (Core i5 2500K) without users.

Ran it over lunch for about 30 mins with the pre-release jar and then ran bukkit 1.2.5 again. Still seeing the high cpu usage, so that didn't fix it. Thanks for the idea, though.

    Linux recoil 2.6.32-36-generic-pae #79-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 8 23:25:26 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
java version "1.6.0_26" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03)
    32% to 62% without users on 1.2.5-R1.0.

    The minecraft_server 1.2.5 pre-release jar sits around 12% cpu.

Plugins: BorderGuard Citizens CommandHelper Dynmap-Essentials Dynmap-Factions dynmap EssentialsChat Essentials EssentialsProtect EssentialsSpawn Factions LagMeter mcMMO Minequery MusicService PermissionsBukkit-1.6 PlugMan SecretSwitch TreeAssist Vault worldedit-5.3-SNAPSHOT

Additionally, I just tried it with Java 1.7.0_03 and I'm still seeing the same high CPU %. I wanted to rule out 6 as the problem.

I tried the above described method to no avail. When the server is run with 1.2.5, CPU loads are 53% min with high of 100% and average of 78% with no users. I rolled back to 1.2.4 and the server returns to normal at 3% min with 63% High average is 17% with no users on.

It is important to note that these launches are vanilla Bukkit with no plugins activated.

    DEV please advise

This is ridiculous. As a developer it is annoying to update the dependencies every time you change to a new build. A few hours ago it was 1.2.5-R0.1-SNAPSHOT now it might be 1.2.5-R1.1-SNAPSHOT or 1.2.5-R0.2-SNAPSHOT
or anything in between. I would be really happy if the developement build would have always the same name(as it was before the new naming policy: 0.0.1-SNAPSHOT) and i could be sure i always had the newest dev-build.
    *rant-off*

Gz for the fast release :) Despite the rant i like the new attitude of the bukkit release strategy!
