A new CraftBukkit Beta Build 1.2.3-R0.1 (#2034) that provides Minecraft 1.2.3 compatibility is now available. As always, please remember to backup your servers before updating, just in case.

Will plugins break with this build?
Unless the plugin developers of your plugins have been keeping up with Bukkit development, plugins will most likely be broken due to the recent optimisation and cleaning of our code.

    What is a Beta Build?
A Beta Build is in between a developer build and a Recommended Build. These builds simply work and are promoted much more frequently than a Recommended Build. While we will do some testing before promoting a beta build, we will not be running it through our extensive test process. As such, there are no guarantees that they will not contain minor bugs. If we do find out they are broken, we will mark it as such on DLB and promote a new one. A beta build may contain incomplete API and new features but they should not interfere with running the build in any way.

Now that a beta has been promoted, we'll be working on new features, API and more fixes for a Recommended Build.

    Known Issues:
    • Entities can't be interacted with after login (vanilla issue).
    • Strange chunk generation artifacts on the client.
For more detailed information on what is contained in this update, please see the changelog here

    You
You do know you can use a mod pack to go back to 1.1 (voxelmodpack) or just save the folder onto your desktop. I told my users before so that if they actually did upgrade they would have a way to downgrade. You could also use spout but I'm not a fan of spout.

I hate it when people act like entitled asses when they are owed nothing.

Perhaps their priorities aren't the same as yours? You've mentioned it a few times without things happening to your satisfaction, so the next obvious step would be to whine about it as that's guaranteed to end well.

From your posts, you don't seem to know a lot about computers but you're right there to bitch that things don't work and it can't possibly be your fault even though you don't seem to know what you're doing from the get-go (you need help turning on file extensions in Explorer?? Really???)

There are only about a million tutorials on craftbukkit online, on YouTube etc. Running a server means you're expected to have a slight clue about what you're doing. If you don't know soemthing, ask nicely or use your Google-fu. Standing there banging on about how nothing works and everyone sucks just makes you look like a jerk.

    Protip: Try McMyAdmin

  6. Hello There could I have some help. When 1.1 was out we had a great map that we used. But since 1.2 came out the map will not convert. Is this because off its just a development build or a beta and i need to wait for the recommended build to be released. Thanks :)

If you have more than one map and Bukkit isn't converting all of them just download the original minecraft_server jar (https://s3.amazonaws.com/MinecraftDownload/launcher/minecraft_server.jar?), in server.properties change world=XXX where XXX is the world that needs to be converted (i.e world=skyworld), run minecraft_server.jar (it will convert the map specified in world=XXX), stop the server and repeat for all your maps!

Does the 1.2.3 version fix the issues of no mob spawn and food depletion errors people are getting?
No, this is not my properties file and I only run Essentials, Group Manager and LWC.

I found a bug, regarding the new update to 1.2.3

    Problem: Map isn't up-to-date
What I did was, I made a GIANT wall like 5-7 days ago. Once I put in the new craftbukkit.jar which I know isn't fully completed, my wall wasn't existing.
I took my old craftbukkit.jar file, the 1.1 stable recommended build one, and turned it back on and I saw my wall. It poofed back!

So what I gathered was that the new build doesn't follow some specific map files or something? I'm not completely sure but I tested this theory more than 3 times..
The wall comes back everytime it goes 1.1
The wall is gone when I update to 1.2.3
And OFC, I don't touch any files in between switching craftbukkit.jar files.
Any ideas? Should I just tell everyone who made anything in the past week, to just rebuild? This is a really big deal, this could cause people to leave my server :/. Will this be fixed?

I've cleaned out a great many support requests. There are just so many...

Remember folks - use the Bukkit Help forums for support.

I'll continue to remove the support requests on the forums tomorrow.

Keep your structures in 1.2.3 without the time consuming process of using WorldEdit

This is for anyone having trouble converting their maps from 1.1 to 1.2.3 in so much that they lose all structures.

I didn't want to use WorldEdit and copy everything in from the original world so I didn't and neither do you. There's a very simple way to have your worlds converted and keep your structures.

    1. If you've already converted your world to 1.2.3 and lost all of your structures, then you'll need to remove that world from your main Bukkit folder and replace it with a 'copy of' 1.1 based back-up world.
    2. If you haven't converted the world from 1.1 to 1.2.3 yet, then leave the world where it is.
    3. Go into your world folder and from there, into the the region folder (you may have a DIM-1 folder which could contain your region folder)
    4. In the region folder, you'll find various files, some will have a .mcr extension and others will have a .mca extension.
    5. Delete the files with a .mca extension and ONLY a .mca extension. Leave the .mcr files in place.
    6. Run craftbukkit and let it convert your worlds.
    7. That's it! Your world should now have been converted to the Anvil format and should also include all your structures.
PLEASE DO ALL OF THE ABOVE WITH COPIES OF YOUR WORLD FILES. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOST OR DAMAGED WORLDS.

I'd like to remind people that these are NOT recommended builds, and as such, may* have bugs.

These builds are not targeted at casual server administrators. Please, if you use these builds, make sure you have the time and desire to research the bugs fully, and submit the bugs in a reproducible format to leaky.bukkit.org.

For casual server administrators, I suggest waiting for the RB. You will have an easier time with RB's than BETA builds. They're beta for a reason.

*This build does have bugs. Read the tickets at leaky.bukkit.org to know more.

Hi, I would like to say 'CONGRATULATIONS, AND CELEBRATIONS' From now on CraftBukkit's going to be better than ever! I bet Mojang will even allow CraftBukkit to make a new AI for some monsters or something that you only get if you play on a Bukkit Server! :D

Noooooo.... I made 1.1 server with 40 plugins. Now I need to wait to authors to update them for 1.2....

You may find (if your willing to test) that as long as the plugins you use are for at least 1.1-RB6 then they may just work. This has been the case with my server. Only a couple are for 1.2.3, most are all 1.1-RB6 and work without issue so far :)

I hate this accursed window between MC releases and CB releases, topped off with plugin delays. I hate seeing my 1.1 server empty day after day, and I wonder if my regular users will come back. While I most certainly appreciate all the effort the CB team are making, I'm hopeful that the integration between Mojang and Bukkit will shorten this window considerably in the future.

I want to make my own server so i can easily update and not worry about my host that wont let me update till a stable build is released. Can someone give me an easy way to make the server without using Hamatichi yet on my PC. (i have a seperate computer for MC)

    ShadowDrakken

The turn around for MC and CB should shrink considerably now that the teams have merged. As for plugins, either use fewer to begin with or write your own if those delays are an issue. That's why I switched to writing my own.

You only need Hamachi if you don't have a public IP address from your ISP (which is rare unless you're on cellular). If you have a public IP, just adjust your router to allow the proper ports through and setup a free dynamic domain.

EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.

I didnt exactly understand... i just need the IPv4 from my Command prompt under eathernet adapter local area connection? or does it need to be under local area connection 2?

That depends... if you have multiple computers then I assume you have a router as well. You'd need to log into your router to get the Internet IP address that your router is reporting and make sure it's public (private will usually be 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x with most ISPs). Then you'll setup port forwarding in the router to point the port you run your Minecraft server on to your server's IP address.

Then either give your friends your public IP address you grabbed from the router, or setup a free dynamic DNS and give your friends that instead.
